"ARE YOU UP FOR A CHALLENGE?"
    Any additional comments?

Andy Stanley frankly addresses fear, jealousy, anger & greed in the context of how these issues of the heart impact our daily life & reactions to both inconsequential & crisis situations.
It IS challenging - it is a mirror - but very worthwhile & loaded with authenticity - a hallmark of Andy Stanley's ministry. I am now on my 3rd listening of this recording. excellent stuff.

I very much enjoyed this book. You can deal with your heart issues so much better when you understand why you feel the way you feel. He really digs into some core issues and how you can bring healing to your heart by finding those issues and bringing them to Christ.

    "Getting rid of heart poison"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It gets beneath the surface and uncovers destructive emotions that will eventually derail us if not dealt with.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Enemies of the Heart?

How anger says: "You owe me." Greed says: "I owe me," Jealousy says: "God owe me." Guilt says: "I owe you."

What does Lloyd James bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lloyd James read the book well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, how some of the poison in my heart was exposed! Now I am taking steps to clear up the poison so it does not effect most important relationships in my life.

    "Compelling, Heart Revelation, Life Changing"
What did you love best about Enemies of the Heart?

The author, Andy Stanley, deals with a serious and sensitive subject matter and right through the audio, he manages to make the listener think, 'How does this apply to me and others in my life?' It has helped me to further understand the 'why' in how we behave and to look behind the behaviours to see the reason a person behaves in a certain way, instead of just the behaviours which are the out working of a much deeper issue. I love his sense of humour, I often smiled and sometimes laughed out loud, however there were times when the Lord touched my heart so deeply, I wanted to weep for the lack of understanding and compassion in the world.

"Effective guide to dealing with emotions"
Where does Enemies of the Heart rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    In the top twenty.

What did you like best about this story?

I most enjoyed the author's conversational writing style. That made it perfect for an audiobook. It was like listening to a close friend talk to you about dealing with your emotions and analyzing your heart in a sympathetic and caring way.

What about Lloyd James’s performance did you like?

His voice was perfectly suited to the conversational, relaxed tone of the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Andy Stanley recounts how his father used to ask about the condition of his heart so regularly that his father could start the question and Andy would reply before he could finish it. That really touched me because I think that's the way things should be in Christian families. It was a simple way to say, "I love you and I really care about what's going on with you and your relationship with God."

    Any additional comments?

This is the best book I've ever read about dealing with your emotions and examining your heart in terms of your motives. He concentrates his study on anger, guilt, greed, and jealousy and how these four emotions create attitudes that create actions.

I also appreciated the study guide questions at the end. This would be an excellent choice for a Christian book club or Sunday school group that wants to explore the emotional life of a Christian.

I thought this would be less personal and discuss other people's actions and motives. Fortunately it was much more specific looking right at me. This book hit me right where I needed when i didn't even realize it was needed.

    "Life Changing!"
What made the experience of listening to Enemies of the Heart the most enjoyable?

The book was open and transparent. Yet powerfully life-changing for me. It provided new perspectives on difficult heart issues and internal conflict. It was simplistically presented with real examples from the authors life. I am so grateful to Andy Stanley for writing this book with love, empathy, and compassion of others and for sharing his stories. I cannot recommend this book enough. I have already given it to a number of people in my life with the same powerful results.

What about Lloyd James’s performance did you like?

Lloyd James bought incredible authenticity to his reading. The whole time I thought I was listening to the author. I do not listen often to audio books because I do not want to lose anything in translation (emphasis, pauses, meaning, etc...). This was incredible.
