The rules for living in the real world have changed, because the world we live in has changed. Much of the conventional wisdom the last generation has passed on just doesn't apply like it once did. If you want to win, and win big, and, more importantly, keep what you work so hard for, you need a crystal-clear view of how the real world works - not how you wish it worked, but how it actually works.
In Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World, six-time New York Times number-one best-selling author Dr. Phil McGraw abandons traditional thinking and tells you the ugly truth about the users, abusers, and overall "bad guys" we all have in our lives. He also reveals the secrets of how they think and how they get to and exploit you and those you love. You'll gain incredible insight into these negative people, which he refers to as BAITERs (Backstabbers, Abusers, Imposters, Takers, Exploiters, Reckless), and you'll gain the tools to protect yourself from their assaults. Dr. Phil gives you the "Evil Eight" identifiers so you can see them coming from a mile away, as well as their "Secret Playbook", which contains the "Nefarious 15" tactics they use to exploit you and take what is yours mentally, physically, socially, and professionally. Life Code then focuses on you and your playbook, which contains the "Sweet 16" tactics for winning in the real world.
Edgy, controversial and sometimes irreverent, Dr. Phil again abandons convention to prepare you to claim what you deserve and claim it now. You take flying lessons to learn to fly, swimming lessons to learn to swim, and singing lessons to learn to sing. So, why not take winning lessons to learn to win?

We all have those people in our lives. The ones that know how to work us just the right way to get us to do things they want leaving us feeling taken advantage of. With this book, Dr. Phil sheds light on what goes on in the minds of these people. And identifies keys to look out for to not get taken advantage of in life. At some point, you realize everything provided is common sense. And some of the descriptions of these people are really over the top (best saved for REALLY bad people). But it's interesting to see such common behaviors pointed out for so many people. Listening to Dr. Phil's descriptions even sheds a little light on your own behavior and maybe things that you yourself do that may be unintentionally hurtful to others in your life. He said he wrote this book to let his grand kids know about how people out there really can be. For them to be aware and not naive walking through life. I think reading through what he has to say, with it all in one place, is very eye-opening because it puts together a bunch of little pieces of things that you already know and gives you a good understanding of people in general.
Mom with a functional mind
I would recommend this audiobook to both friends and family because you are bound to get that Aha! moment.
Great Book, thanks Dr. Phil, you did it again.
When I realized that not all "smiling faces" cares about my well being.
Yes, I did.
The "New" Talk
Dr. Phil, himself. I'm a huge fan and I love his upfront, matter of fact approach to problems & solutions.
Dr. Phil, of course!
I've read other books, but this is the first time listening to Dr. Phil on audiobook.
I had quite a few "a-ha" moments and connected some dots.
Dr. Phil for president!!!
I liked his Texas charm and spin on things, but a lot of the book felt like it was added after he wrote the meat and potatoes of the book. That being said, the section on how to educate our children to spot and stay clear from baiters alone makes this book worth reading. I also liked how he talks about the constant negotiation of marriage and other relationships.
Please contact me if you find Stephen King, Catherine Cookson, Joe Hill, any good horror books.
Yes. I love listening to his voice, he is a fantastic reader.
definitely.ANd I did!
Thank you Dr. Phil. For caring so much about others. You are truly gifted. I wish there was a Dr. Phil when I was growing up.
If, as an Australian, you can get past the Americanisms, this is a great book with great advice. Really changed my thinking. Dr Phil is very easy to listen to. I went and bought the printed copy too.
Don't assume we are dumb blonds
His distrust of everyone, even the reader
Sensationalism to sell books and elevate his callus view of people
Lost a little of my admiration of him
I love Dr. Phil and I don't get tired of reading / listening to his books. However, this one in particular doesn't get to point until half way through, I was hoping the content would be exposed in a more concise way.
This one is not as focused and rambles a little bit too much before getting to the point for my taste
I love the way Dr. Phil reads his books, he keeps you hooked and is the best reader for his own books.
Say something about yourself!
yes I do
Phil is so matter of fact and I like that about, It came through in the book.
I like the way he break life down to codes to follow and indentify player to look for.
Yes, I would listen again to Life Code because Dr. Phil has written about so many important points. Listening twice for me is essential to understanding the advice fully.
I valued Dr. Phil sharing his own personal experiences with "baiters". I could easily relate and therefore use the information for myself.
I'm On To Your Game, Buddy. (j/k, not a movie type of book, really.)
Love having an audible book. I will definitely buy more.
