The rules for living in the real world have changed, because the world we live in has changed. Much of the conventional wisdom the last generation has passed on just doesn't apply like it once did. If you want to win, and win big, and, more importantly, keep what you work so hard for, you need a crystal-clear view of how the real world works - not how you wish it worked, but how it actually works.
In Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World, six-time New York Times number-one best-selling author Dr. Phil McGraw abandons traditional thinking and tells you the ugly truth about the users, abusers, and overall "bad guys" we all have in our lives. He also reveals the secrets of how they think and how they get to and exploit you and those you love. You'll gain incredible insight into these negative people, which he refers to as BAITERs (Backstabbers, Abusers, Imposters, Takers, Exploiters, Reckless), and you'll gain the tools to protect yourself from their assaults. Dr. Phil gives you the "Evil Eight" identifiers so you can see them coming from a mile away, as well as their "Secret Playbook", which contains the "Nefarious 15" tactics they use to exploit you and take what is yours mentally, physically, socially, and professionally. Life Code then focuses on you and your playbook, which contains the "Sweet 16" tactics for winning in the real world.
Edgy, controversial and sometimes irreverent, Dr. Phil again abandons convention to prepare you to claim what you deserve and claim it now. You take flying lessons to learn to fly, swimming lessons to learn to swim, and singing lessons to learn to sing. So, why not take winning lessons to learn to win?

I read some reviews who said that it's all about himself so that I almost didn't buy it - I don't see it though, and I am glad that I got it. Of course, he uses examples of himself because that's how he learned and progressed. I like especially the chapter on the evil eight as I had hunches about the character of those people which have now put into words. I have always liked his clear language of not beating around the bush. I am learning from his book and am glad he wrote it.
Excellent discussion, with common sense advice, many good examples. I agree this book is to be listened to several times, because it's clear we need to duo better.
This book/audiobook is LIFE CHANGING. Not only has it opened my eyes and detailed/defined the "doormat" subconscious reality I have been dealing with/accepting my whole life (unfortunately), but I now have a much more clear understanding as to why it has and is still happening. In all honesty, I used to think that Dr. Phil was a "Crock-O-Crap" and fake doctor (which was most likely driven by the negative "MSM" I have witnessed against him), but after listening to his book I have gained an astronomical amount of respect for him. If you are fed up with how others are affecting your life and want to learn how to combat/remove/deal with such people, then this is the book to read/listen to. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars (it deserves a million). Thank you Dr. Phil (aka Dr. Bossman!).
Have a renewed interest in books after falling in love with audio books. I am listening to all different genres and exploring different authors.
My director recommended I read this book because I was deceived by one of my direct reports. It makes me sad how deceptive individuals can be and I feel I am more aware now. However, not sure if I am more aware based on my real-life experience or because of this book.
All time fave book series is Fear Street by R.L. Stine. I have read them all...I think.
The only thing I find negative is his approach to single moms..although I can appreciate him pointing out potential dangers...this book is read like he is actually talking to you which to me keeps your interest..
While reading the book you will be able to assess your life. Transformation comes right after.
It's a great self help book.

EntrepreNerd - Looking for good books on tech, life skills and business
Yes. It's easier to digest the material if you listen to it. Plus, Dr. Phil is an excellent speaker. If he had someone else narrate the book, it would have lost a lot.
Wow, too many! I guess the basic premise that you can no longer 'give people the benefit of the doubt.' He's right, the world just doesn't work that way anymore.
There were so may 'aha' moments in the book. Sometimes, my wife and I were listened together. There were times when we just had to pause the book and talk about what he had just said.
I know a lot of people think Dr. Phil is an opportunist, a quack and a publicity hound. But, I doubt these people have ever really sit down and listened to what he is saying and how much he has really helped people in need.
The information in this book is good, solid advice given by a guy with (as he calls it), "Good, walking around, common sense". He's a good old boy, but he doesn't mince words or sugar coat it. He just cuts straight to the point.
"Life Code is excellent"
Listening to the audio of Dr Phil McGraw was really interesting, it felt like he was in the same room, just talking to me and putting his point across.
The truthfulness of Dr Phil McGraw words and examples.
I enjoyed listening to the first part which outlines what type of person we sometimes deal with whether it be in the office or at home.
It has been a long time since I've actually listened to an audio and actually agreed with the writer. This is a five star book.
I would recommend this book to those people who been treated badly whether at work or at home and feel it was their fault. This book will change your mind.
I wouldn't say I have been given the answers I would be looking for but I have been given the tools an motivation for the next chapter in my life.
Dr Phil did that for me many years ago and I've already started to take control again. This has reminded me that I really do have the answers all I needed to do was visualise what success would look like for me and write down the steps to get there.
"Well worth listening!"
Typical self help books bore me. But this book is realistic and very useful. I am resolved to changing my behaviour based in the guidance.
Just what I needed...I will share your teachings with my children. Nothing more to be said.
Thanks Dr Phil
Found it very relative to the situation I am in now. work and my own career and family life truly an inspiration and good audio
