I love reading about self-help, spiritual & mysteries...also love a good bio!!!!
I loved the narrators calming voice...I am able to listen to Audible while I am at work, and this was soo relaxing..but entertaining...thought he might put me to sleep with his cadence, but the info is soo awesome! This is a book you can keep listening to over & over again from any starting point! Not interested in becoming a Buddhist, but love the message and how to be a better, more compassionate person...a must listen to book for any religious persuasion!!!
it taught me to be MINDFUL of when I'm being DEFENSIVE!!! I'm trying to work on this...big wake-up call...good learning tools!!!!
His CALMING voice...don't worry...he won't put you to sleep...unless you want him to!!!
How to be MINDFUL of my thoughts and how to recognize them, and how to process them SANELY!!!
yes, the audio version is better because this is a lecture and not a book. the audio version also works better with the speaker's meandering thought process.
The book is most powerful in using every day examples of the practice and integration of buddhism into modern life.
he brings a whispey spaceyness that may not come across in the written book.
I am inspired to research buddhism further and try to really grasp some of these concepts.
we are all beginners, so this lecture is really for everyone.
This is a collection of his lectures at Spirit Rock Center in Nor Cal. Listening to him talk is half the joy of this book.
For me, this is the best spiritual guidance I've found. But then you have to decide that for yourself.
The audio is good. The guidance is great. The speaker is wise. Well worth a download if you are interested in Buddhism.
Such great stories and experiences that make Kornfield right up there with Tolle, Dyer, and Pema. Don't listen if you are drowsy and driving .... he's very soft spoken
Maybe it would have been a more interesting listen if the narrator actually made an effort of captivating the listener instead of putting him to sleep.
I found the reader's tone so patronizing, that I could not listen to this book. I regret buying it.
