From the legendary basketball coach who inspired generations of athletes and businesspeople, an inspiring book about the power of mentoring and being mentored.
After eight books, many of them best sellers, A Game Plan for Life is the one closest to John Wooden's heart: a moving and inspirational guide to the power of mentorship. The first half focuses on the people who helped foster the values that carried Wooden through an incredibly successful and famously principled career, including his college coach, his wife, Abraham Lincoln, and Mother Teresa. The second half is built around interviews with some of the many people he mentored over the years, including Kareem Abdul- Jabbar, Bill Walton, fellow coaches, family members, and even a middle school coach in Canada.
Their testimony takes readers inside the lessons Wooden taught to generations of players, bringing out the very best in them not just as athletes but as human beings. In all, its an inspiring primer on how to achieve success without sacrificing principles, and on how to build one of the most productive and rewarding relationships available to any athlete, businessperson, teacher, or parent: that of mentor and protege.

The way John Wooden applied his beliefs and inspired everyone around him. Everything has a purpose and if done well will raise you to the next level.
Paul did a wonderful job at expressing emotions and bringing John Wooden and all of his wisdom back to life.
To set expectations for everyone around you, knowning that they cannot all be judged on the same scale.
Please take the time to read this book. It will only benefit you and the ones around you!
I enjoyed listening to all the different mentors he had and people he mentored. It makes you realize the impact you should strive to have on others.
I've listen to this book a couple of times and I love the mentoring I get out of it each time I do. John Wooden really led a special life so glad he took the time to write his wisdom down.
This book was helpful to me for two reasons. First, it made me realize there are people in my life that are deserving to be my mentor and I should expand on the relatiionship. Secondly, I need to be aware that people may think of me as a mentor and be aware of that.
Informative and inspirational material are presented in this book. It gets slightly repetitive toward the end of the book. But overall I like it and it provides me new way to look at like and live from a different angle
I just wish I would of read this book sooner. I am a better Dad,husband, friend, but most of all a better Mentor! A book full of inspiring Life Lesson and remarkable people.
This book provides great wisdom and insight into how one of the most successful basketball coaches ever created an environment where repetition, mentoring, and togetherness produced an environment that fostered success both on and off the basketball court.
Great wisdom by a legendary thinker. Biggest complaint is the narrating voice was computer generated, very robotic sound. Once I got past that, I could actually focus on what Coach had to say, which as always was inspiring.
