Publisher's summary

Alyss of Wonderland's rule has only just begun, and already those who prefer chaos to peace are threatening to destroy everything worth imagining. Trailed by newly appointed royal bodyguard Homburg Molly, Alyss is doing her best to keep pace with the nonstop demands of being queen while attempting to evade Molly for a few private moments with Dodge.

Alyss' life is a challenging mix of duty, love, and tough decisions, and then a series of phantom sightings set fire to an urban myth of Her Imperial Viciousness' return and have everyone...seeing Redd.

Has Redd somehow freed herself and her chief assassin, The Cat, from the confines of the Heart Crystal? If not, then who has resurrected Redd's brutal foot soldiers the Glass Eyes and set them loose to attack Wonderland on all sides?Battles rage, looking glasses explode, and the Alyssians once again unite to defend White Imagination in this fast-paced followup to the New York Times best-selling The Looking Glass Wars.

Like listening to a comic book

Good story, good performance. But the narrator was forced to make so many sound effects I had a hard time not laughing at different points.

As good as the first

I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the first book. If you haven't read the first, go back and read it, otherwise you will be lost. The characters are back and we get to see more of their story and how everything is going to turn out. I found myself hooked on each chapter!

!

Awesome Narrator! Distinct voice for every one and you could tell who was who right away. The story has such vivid imagery I thought I was there. Loved every minute

Great read

Would you listen to another book narrated by Gerard Doyle?

Gerard Doyle is ok. He did the inheritance cycle books and so I think of him for those, but he can make the writing seem long winded.

Any additional comments?

I was never much of a fan of the original books. They were ok and imaginative, but never held me at the edge of my seat. These are much better and can't wait to get to the third just need to get my next months credit.

Pretty good but not as good as the first

I thought this book was good though it did not keep my attention as much as the first. I will say that I love the narrator of these books because he not only brings the characters to life but the sound effects make it so much more.

Bummer.

The first book was fun and gripping, I highly enjoyed it. However, I am currently half-way through listening to the second in the series, "Seeing Redd" and it's horrid. I've stopped forcing myself to try and finish it. LGW #1 was fun, interesting and enthralling, but 2nd so far is dark, dark, dark and the protagonist's character is the least compelling while the villain’s are the most. Since it was the protagonist (Alyce) whom one grew to care about in the first, it gives a reader whiplash-especially since the 'hero story' of #1 was to my taste but 'let's explore evil' is not. If it were a library book I'd return it. If it were a bookstore book I'd return it. I don't know the return policy at Audible, but I'm looking in to it for #2. So if you like, IMO, read #1, it's awesome, and wikipedia the other books to find out what happens without polluting your brain.
