Publisher's summary

Marty Neumeier, author of The Brand Gap and other business best-sellers, has written an audiobook that leaps right into your pounding heart.

One rainy night in December, young CEO David Stone is inexplicably called back to the office. The company’s chairman tells him that the board members have reached the end of their patience. If David can’t produce a viable turnaround plan in five weeks, he’s out of a job.

The problem is, he’s already used every trick in the book and nothing has worked. His only hope is to try something new. But what? The powerful tools at the center of the story are the five Qs of strategy and the five Ps of design thinking. These make up the basic principles of agile strategy - a faster, more collaborative approach to building a brand.

Whether you’re a CEO, strategist, marketer, manager, designer, writer, researcher, or consultant, you’ll find familiar challenges and recognizable faces here. You’ll also discover the ability to see business in a new light - not as a static set of requirements, but as a living entity that responds to passion, purpose, and creative collaboration. Scramble is that rare audiobook that everyone on your team will eagerly listen to, discuss, and put into action.

Never a boring moment!

I loved this book! Not only was it informational but the fact that it followed a fictional made the information easier and much more fun to digest. There are so many great books out there, but they’re all similar in the structure they follow that when paired with business lingo, they can be boring to read. For this book, I kept wanting to know what would happen next that it made it impossible to stop listening. It was great to see how the strategies were applied in the context of the story. Will definitely listen again. I hope we get to hear a new story of David Stone again!

Engaging AND relevant

SCRAMBLE is told as a story—which engaged me in a way that a dry business book would not. I put myself in the CEO’s position and became a part of the story—imagining how I would solve the various challenges and overcome the feelings of trepidation cropping up along the way. Because SCRAMBLE is written as a narrative, I felt like a participant. Because SCRAMBLE is written by Marty Neumeier, I got great business insights. A must read!

I keep going back for more

When I find myself struggling with a project, I reach for the book or my phone to listen to this for inspiration of how I could look at the project from a different angle. Great read or listen, I have several but not all his books and use them all when I find a need to be inspired.

This is a great novel and business book at the same time!

What an experience this Audiobook was! I was dragged into the story immediately.

I wanted to be a part of the team in the book and chip in with ideas. I learned so much and took lots of notes. Love the characters and the obstacles they have to overcome and how they solved them. This is a great novel and business book at the same time!

I was emotionally engaged with the characters and the story, at the same time as I was learning tons.

Teams or businesses should buy this book for every employee. This is a formula for creative thinking and problem solving, and how teams can work better together. A more relevant book for our times and the future of branding is hard to find.

I recommend that you check out Marty Neumeiers previous books as well as his website martyneumeier.com.

Enjoy!

If you don’t want to blend in, this is a must have

I’ve read 3 other books by Marty and this is one of my favorites. In fact, it’s the most interesting business book I’ve encountered. It interweaves a story with practical insight and strategies without the boring typical business jargon you see in other books. This is a must have!

A refreshingly clever book; creative, insightful!

Posting a review here to share how much I loved "Scramble!" It was top-to-bottom quality and a fascinating, insightful read. The characters, the plot, this situation—all plausible and captivating. I loved the insertion of the Uber driver, Sokrates—reminiscent of “Way of the Peaceful Warrior,” a book I loved when I was younger.

Mostly though, I loved how you played out agile strategy in a thriller setting. Really smart and captivating…much like the way things unfold in the real world with a diverse cast of characters, each with roles, strengths and weaknesses contributing (or not) as a team.

It makes me want to get closer to some of the approaches within: how to better apply the 5Qs and the 5Ps.

Well done, Marty! Keep the great books coming.
