Publisher's summary

Richard K. Morgan has received widespread praise for his astounding 25th-century novels featuring Takeshi Kovacs, and has established a growing legion of fans. Mixing classic noir sensibilities with a searing futuristic vision of an age when death is nearly meaningless, Morgan returns to his saga of betrayal, mystery, and revenge, as Takeshi Kovacs, in one fatal moment, joins forces with a mysterious woman who may have the power to shatter Harlan's World forever.

Once a gang member, then a marine, then a galaxy-hopping Envoy trained to wreak slaughter and suppression across the stars, a bleeding, wounded Kovacs was chilling out in a New Hokkaido bar when some so-called holy men descended on a slim beauty with tangled, hyperwired hair. An act of quixotic chivalry later and Kovacs was in deep: mixed up with a woman with two names, many powers, and one explosive history.

In a world where the real and virtual are one and the same and the dead can come back to life, the damsel in distress may be none other than the infamous Quellcrist Falconer, the vaporized symbol of a freedom now gone from Harlan's World. Kovacs can deal with the madness of AI. He can do his part in a battle against biomachines gone wild, search for a three-centuries-old missing weapons system, and live with a blood feud with the yakuza, and even with the betrayal of people he once trusted. But when his relationship with "the" Falconer brings him an enemy specially designed to destroy him, he knows it's time to be afraid.

After all, the guy sent to kill him is himself: but younger, stronger, and straight out of hell.

Wild, provocative, and riveting, Woken Furies is a full-bore science fiction spectacular of the highest order from one of the most original and spellbinding storytellers at work today.

Woken Furies is the third Takeshi Kovacs novel, following Altered Carbon and Broken Angels.

I can't get over the name mispronunciation!

I love this series! I just can't get over how the voice actor mis-pronounces Kovacs every time.... After it was so discussed how it is supposed to be pronounced in the first book in the series. Please take the time to read the prior books in the series before reading for Audible.

Fun but has adult content

The third book in the Takeshi Kovacs series is fairly entertaining in my opinion. Readers should be warned the book does use a lot of profanity and the author seems to throw in graphic sex scenes at set intervals for no apparent reason but if you can get past that, the story itself is quite enjoyable. I think the novel would be better without those more adult aspects but I still find the character of Takeshi Kovacs and the notion of transferring your consciousness from one "sleeve" to another infinitely interesting.

Narrator seemed to not know the character

it seemed the narrator didn't really understand the main character in regard to his stoicism. I was also NOT a fan of the poorly executed "special effects".
Not my favorite in this series.

Great end of the series and open for others

Enjoyed the series and the resolution and possibilities for more books. The audio wasn't as good as the previous 2 narrative. Much better than the mini series.

I like it better than book 2.

I thought the voice actor was better the the person in the first 2 books. The story was ok. The first book is the best in my world.

Just to be clear this is a good book better than anything I could ever come up with just not my cup of tea.

After getting past the unorthodox begining

I came to like this story and how it was told. At first I found the sound effects distracting but soon I found them to be well placed and useful in the telling of the tale.

should have read the reviews first

wish I had read the reviews first. If it wasn't for traveling so much for the holidays I would have given up. The story is solid but the audiobook production is horrible.

Listen to opening of first book. Then listen to opening performance of this book. No respect to what came before in this performance.

Great series, except for one thing.

I love the Kovacs novels, great high sci-fi/cyber punk feel but I had to knock a star off for the sex scenes- which are in all of his books it seems. It's not that there is a lot of it or that I'm a prude, far from it, but he goes into way too much unnecessary detail which just makes it seem pornographic and distasteful and out of place given the rest of the book. I don't really see the need to put that detail into the story, it would have been better off glazed over instead of blow by blow graphic descriptions.
