Publisher's summary

In Chicago, someone has been killing practitioners of magic, those incapable of becoming full-fledged wizards. Shockingly, all the evidence points to Harry Dresden's half brother, Thomas, as the murderer. Determined to clear his sibling's name, Harry uncovers a conspiracy within the White Council of Wizards that threatens not only him, but his nearest and dearest, too.

Critic reviews

“What’s not to like about this series?...It takes the best elements of urban fantasy, mixes it with some good old-fashioned noir mystery, tosses in a dash of romance and a lot of high-octane action, shakes, stirs, and serves.” (SF Site)

“A tricky plot complete with against-the-clock pacing, firefights, explosions, and plenty of magic. Longtime series fans as well as newcomers drawn by the SciFi Channel’s TV series based on the novels should find this supernatural mystery a real winner.” (Library Journal)

“What would you get if you crossed Spenser with Merlin? Probably you would come up with someone very like Harry Dresden, wizard, tough guy and star of [the Dresden Files].” (The Washington Times)

Awesome

I really love this narrator. He does so many unique voices and really has emotion in his voice. The mysteries are never boring and usually have many “layers” to them. Never disappointed!

Yet Another Fantastic Supernatural Endeavor

I got hooked on The Dresden Files after checking out the criminally short-lived Sci-Fi Network series Netflix. After blazing through Storm Front, Fool Moon, and Grave Peril, I told myself to pace them out and spaced the others between Jack Reacher and Elvis Cole stories. After the amazing ramp up that was Dead Beat, I can't stop myself from listening to the next one right away. Jim Butcher has crafted truly deep and woven stories filled with wonderfully complex and faulted characters.
Without giving spoilers, White Night continues the Lashiel storyline by allowing Harry to explore what the Demarian has given him, and the potential price it might cost. Harry also finds himself torn between a forgotten enemy who might be up to no good, comrades new and old, and the realization that bring devoted to family might not be as easy as he thought.
If you are new to the Dresden Files and love modern day mixed with fantasy, then you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. Just don't start here, or else you'll be cheating yourself out of an amazing ride that starts with the first book.

I LOVE HARRY!!!!

As always, I love Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. I had read the book a while ago but I couldn't find it and wanted to read it again. But rather than re-buying the book, I got the audio book.

I have listened to other audio books from the Dresden series, and I always love Marsters' rendition of the toughened gumshoe wizard. He does all the voices really well as he has a gift for doing accents. Really pulled out all the stops for this one!

And as for the story- I said I loved this series, right? This is a great bit of fast paced storytelling with kabooms and tension and character building. Stop reading reviews and download this book already!

Dresden keeps getting better

Where does White Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This will be short and simple ... each book (so far) in The Dresden Files is more enjoyable that the previous. I'm completely sold on the story line and the characters. The action scenes of course are outstanding. The stories never seem to stop to catch their breath, just keep running Harry! Bravo (in every way).

Excellent!

What a great read! I’m a Dresden fan, all right! Narrator is 5 star! Well done for keeping the same narrator throughout the series. Excellent move. Really loved this read and the push and pull of Dresden and the mantle. Am already onto the next one.....

3 thumbs up

James marsters is brilliant. His diverse voice acting really propels what is already an amazing tale on the pages alone.
