Just a lot of politics and a dumb plot

I loved the two previous books about the jump mage and his powers. This one was about him corralling a bunch of politicians from starting a war. The plot was so predictable and the politicians were so stupid, in the end you wanted them to just get over it. All of this would be prevented if the politicians would speak to each other. Then there would be no book

Obvious BUT Intense! When's the next book?

The bad guys were obvious! The solution however was not. I'm looking forward to book 4!

Worthy but a bit repetitive

I've been waiting for many months and was thrilled when I saw it finally show up in Audible.com. I wasn't disappointed and generally enjoyed the book but I was hoping for something less predictable. There was the usual encounters with other mages challenging Damien's abilities and authority and the subsequent near death encounters along with the political intrigue along the way but most of the characters, including Damien, seemed less interesting than in the previous books. Even the main antagonist was simple to determine very early on.

With that said, the writing was still very fluid and the narration still well recited (except for a nit with Damien sounding demanding and slightly arrogant even when he intended his declarations are meant to sound soft.)

It’s nothing but DEi bull

I’m trying to focus on the story but every time I get drag out of it by people mentioning gay people or by a female being nasty around everyone and getting props for it, it’s shit I will never buy a book from this author

A slow burn

Don’t get me wrong. I like a variety of books, stories, and genres. This fell into the genres I love, however it just lacked. The decisions made in the book didn’t make me stop to consider their actions. The story was slow and always stamped with the seal of “I am the Voice of Mars” which after the 5th time loses all charm. I know I’ve heard the reader before in other books but I just feel like in this one his heart wasn’t in it. Honestly, the only time I ever really felt the motion behind words was during the death transmission of Captain Arrow and when somebody said f&$k. 4/10

Boring plot that's not resolved satisfactorily

The plot zooms around without a clear progress and you when you reach the end you feel cheated out of a good b book.

would be better without the political correctness.

Gripping story with mages, battles, space travel, intrigue, and a main character you can root for. A little too much neo-moralizing.
