    "Good story but too short"

This is a good series. The only thing about this book that I don't like is that it's too short. Not that I want the book to drag on and on, but I think the author could combine a couple of books instead of making them short and leaving a cliffhanger at the end. In each book Samantha's character grows as she learns about her new abilities and how to relate to humans. The way that she interacts with her children, sister, and ex husband is realistic. I can tell that the author is leading up to something big, but, I wish he would get to it and stop writing short stories.

    "Favorite from the entire series!"
If you could sum up Vampire Dawn in three words, what would they be?

Page turner. Listened straight through. Couldn't stop listening.

What did you like best about this story?

More plot lines with more characters.

Which character – as performed by Dina Pearlman – was your favorite?

    Sam

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The way she loves her children more than anything else in life. The faith she has and the want to be with them again without the limitations of the sun.

    Any additional comments?

You should read "Christmas Moon" (book 4.5) before this book. It has details in that book that pertain to this book.

"J R Rain & Dina Pearlman have me hooked"
Would you listen to Vampire Dawn again? Why?

I would and have listened to the entire series again, it is a great story, with a completely different view of "Vampires"

What other book might you compare Vampire Dawn to and why?

I can't compare to any, except it has humor like some "Sookie Stackhouse", Except the concept it totally original, not like any other "Vampire" genre.

What does Dina Pearlman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dina Pearlman is wonderful at voicing the characters and their moods. (even the children) I hope she continues to voice this series

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

SPOILER ALERT: The very last chapter when Samantha goes out to watch the sun rise, hoping the "Amulet" that she found will allow her to walk in Sun light like normal humans, so she can enjoy her time with her children.

    Any additional comments?

This has been a great series so far and each book has gotten better I only hope it will continue along in this fashion

"Exactly Where Does The Blood Come From?"
If you could sum up Vampire Dawn in three words, what would they be?

    Too Damn Short

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

So short you have to work to stretch it out

    Any additional comments?

Samantha Moon delves more into her nature and discovers just how wonderful human blood is compared to her normal diet. Problem is just how willing is are the sources in the vampire community? Plus what is the cost of saving her son from a deadly disease?

    "Good but very short"

This is a good book but it is very short. There are a lot of thing in this book that could have been discussed more. Like Sam's new relationship with Detective Hanner, her relationship with Fang and Kingsley and about her son. I think that's the difference between male and female writers. female writers spend more time on relationships. However short it is a good book and I look forward to the next.

    "Good Series, Light Reading"

I am a fan of this series, but it's a bit like a good bowl of popcorn; you enjoy it while you're eating it, and you're certainly sorry when it's done, but if something else exciting comes along, you can easily put it down. That said, I have purchased every book and will continue to do so. The writing is smooth, although I felt something was 'off' on the interpersonal relationships until I discovered JR Rain is a man-- then it made sense. Don't get me srong, he is a good writer and makes a great story and an easy read, but the women's inner voice seems like a man's version of a woman's inner voice if you know what a mean. This is a good combo of supernatural and mystery, reminded me of Dresden Files a little. Overall, a good, solid easy to digest series that I will stick with.

I can find a book to love in any genre -- a beautifully written classic, an interesting mystery or sci-fi, a trashy romance. Bring it!

"New type of vampire - pretty good story"

STORY - This is the story of a newly-turned-vampire mom, complete with children and minivan, who is also a PI investigating a potential human blood sale operation. This was a good mystery, nothing particularly complicated or stellar. What I enjoyed most was her personal struggle to maintain her human qualities while exploring her new set of powers -- flying, the ability to see spirits and other psychic abilities. Even though this is Book 5 in the series, it stands alone as a story.

NARRATOR - The narrator has a mysterious, husky way of reading which is perfect for a somewhat sinister mystery. She reads somewhat slowly, so I actually turned the narrator speed to 1.25 which was perfect.

BOTTOM LINE: You will probably like this book if you enjoy vampire mysteries.
