Publisher's summary

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author MaryJanice Davidson’s tales featuring Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor are a perfect blend of humor, horror, and high fashion. In this 10th installment, Betsy finds herself puzzling over an unusual predicament. As the Vampire Queen, she believes she cannot die. So when she wakes in the morgue, it’s a bit confusing. Could it have something to do with her recent time-traveling excursion, or has a wicked enemy emerged who could be the end of Betsy once and for all?

General entertaining, but continuity blips are MADDENING

This has been driving me nuts for the last few books, and I know the author finally makes a note to address the “retroactive continuity”, but the changes are more distracting than helpful. Maybe because I listen to books in a series back to back, the “blips” seem more glaring, but it’s really irritating. The story is still somewhat entertaining enough to stay with despite the fact changes, but it’s something to note.

great new story arc, still good old queen betsey

This series seems to get dogged more than any other I have read. I generally hate chick lit, but I adore this series. The last couple of books have taken a different turn, with more focus on the antichrist and betsey. I personally think this is a great turn.
while it is true that many things are repeated from earlier books, it is also rue that for this story it does work. we are talking about different timelines and she is referring back to the previous timeline she knows. there is a reason for this.
I found this a humorous listen ad a good addition to the series. Some people seem to take this way too seriously. We are talking about a vampire queen who faints at the mention of Leboutin not existing in her new timeline, not Jane Austin.
I do recommend it; my one complaint is that the dialogue often goes back and forth and it can occasionally be difficult to discern who is speaking.

Hope it is better than the last... one more chance

I was so dissappointed with the end of the last book that I vowed I would not purchase this author's work again.... well, one last chance... let's hope this can make up for the last one.

I've really enjoyed this series and hope I will again.

I gave this all medium ratings based on the fact that I have finished it yet... will revise review after finishing..

Thanks.

Back on Track

For those of us who have followed the Betsy books from the beginning and hated how the last book ended, here is your "Reset" button. I like that we get to set things back in order and there is a focused direction for the next book, Undead and Unstable. I wonder if we will regret getting exactly what we asked for...MaryJ basically gave back the baby with the bath water...hmmm...oh well, we will have to see.

The pacing of the book is a little overwhelming and I felt at times that I needed to take a breath to make up a timeline or an algebraic equation to sort everything out. Another minor issue I had with the book was the reader...I am sorry but it was a little difficult to distinguish voices of the characters. Betsy, Sinclair and Jessica were the exceptions...did I mention I liked the book?

Disappointed

I really enjoyed the series so far. But this book just wasn’t good. Too much of Betsy’s rambling and not enough action. Guess you can just skip this one and not lose anything important from the story.

Any additional comments?

I love the Undead series, but Nacy Wu kind of ruined a little.

What just happened?

Really enjoyed this series. The characters were great, the humor was smart and not over the top. Not sure if the author has herself spread out to thin (I know she has several other series she writes) but this book is wanting.

All snark, no story

I have enjoyed this series in the past -- some audio and some in print. Much of what I enjoyed was the hysterical snarkiness. But this book (1/3 of the way through) is 90% snark and no story movement. I just do not care. I don't care what happens to any of the characters; I don't care about the plot. It is way too much self-indulgent chatter, empty of meaning. Like listening to empty calories that become nauseating after time. This is a writing/plot problem, not a narrator problem. After listening to/reading all the previous stories and looking forward to this one, I am stopping after 2 hours. I cannot stand it any more. This is a shame.

Dead and wasted

Ho and hum. Save yourself some time and money and stop by a bookstore to read the last chapter and epilogue. That will fill you in.
