Publisher's summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In the fourth novel of the Iron Druid Chronicles, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan must pay his debts to cunning trickster god Coyote, a task that includes battling undead creatures of the night as well as a relentless hound of Hel and the goddess of death who commands it.

“[Kevin] Hearne is a terrific storyteller with a great snarky wit. . . . Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden.”—SFFWorld

Cutting a deal with a trickster god rarely goes well for any human brave or foolish enough to try it, but Atticus doesn’t feel like he has a choice. With members of the Norse pantheon out for his blood, he can’t train his apprentice in peace, so he asks Coyote to help him fake his own death. The cost, however, might wind up being every bit as high as if he’d made no deal at all.

There are things hiding in the Arizona desert that don’t want any company, and Coyote makes sure they know Atticus has arrived. And then there's the hound of Hel, Garm, who’s terribly difficult to shake and not at all convinced that Atticus is dead.

Being tricked by a trickster is par for the course. But it’s the betrayal from someone he thought was a friend that shakes Atticus to the core and places his life in jeopardy. The real trick, he discovers, might be surviving his own faked death.

Includes Kevin Hearne’s novella “Two Ravens and One Crow”

Fun Fun Fun

I think these books are very creative and fun. I love Oberon and the voice that the narrator does for him. Luke Daniels does an awesome job!!

Awesome story and Great series!

I have really enjoyed the Iron Druid books. The story line and character development is very good. I like the way the author has used the ancient Irish god lore system is quite refreshing. We normally get story line in more common know systems. I really enjoy the way the main character inter acts with his Irish Wolf Hound. You can tell he is a dog lover. This new book continues the growth of characters and story. It was over way too soon. The add chapter from the next book just makes you want it now. The narrator is great also; he really does a great job.

Another wonderful story, except...

it had to end. I wish The Iron Druid installments were twice as long. These books go by way too fast! Now I have to figure out what to do until Hearne finishes "Trapped". Bummer.

Hearne and Daniels do it again

Where does Tricked rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Honestly, it's a great book but the skills of Luke Daniels take it over the top.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oberon because: "That's the price you pay for badassery"

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As usual it's a very funny book. I'm constantly surprised by Kevin Hearne and his sense of humor.

Any additional comments?

Great book, great series. If you haven't make sure you read the three before this book. It's not completely necessary but it helps with a lot of the inside jokes and background. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

Another Brilliant Adventure

Would you consider the audio edition of Tricked to be better than the print version?

The audio edition and print version of Tricked are equal; however, Luke Daniels is EXCELLENT at representing Mr. Hearne's characters. Mr. Daniels brings another dimension to Mr. Hearne's fantastically multidimensional writing.

What did you like best about this story?

Too many things to list.

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

I greatly appreciated Mr. Daniel's versatility of accent and voice. There was no struggling to know which character was talking and when. For anyone who is on the fence about hiring Mr. Daniels to portray their work, you should know that I actually purchased other audio books specifically because Mr. Daniels was the narrator. Listening to Mr. Daniels is like watching a movie with my ears!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I listen while driving. I believe I added an extra block or two to my commute to prolong my listening pleasure.

Any additional comments?

Mr. Hearn's writing is like MSG for the ears. When you are finished with his book, you always want more. Tricked was no exception. I am anxiously waiting for the next adventure.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oberon - he always has the best lines

Which scene was your favorite?

After he fakes his death and suggests an orgy to The Morrigan.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Coming into its own

The author finally finds his stride with this one. While still not on the level of the Dresden files, the iron druid chronicles are laugh out loud funny, with a story to match.
