Publisher's summary

In the fifth novel in the New York Times bestselling Iron Druid Chronicles, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan will at last bind a new Druid to protect the earth—but first he must go toe-to-toe with the Roman god Bacchus, the Norse pantheon, and an ancient vampire, all hell-bent on ensuring his demise.

“[Kevin] Hearne is a terrific storyteller with a great snarky wit. . . . Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden.”—SFFWorld

The downside to faking your own death is that people tend to get upset when they find out they’ve been had. In Atticus O’Sullivan’s case, they’re upset enough to come after him to make sure he dies for real this time. Yet he can’t remain in hiding anymore: He has to bind his apprentice, Granuaile, to the earth so that she can become the first new Druid in centuries.

But the Roman god Bacchus wants mortal revenge for a slight against him, and he proceeds to act on the principle that Atticus should hate his life until it can be ended. Members of the Norse pantheon aren’t particularly pleased with Atticus either—especially one who had languished in darkness, slowly going mad, and is now free to work his mischief again.

On top of that, an ancient vampire, who’d like to remove Atticus and Granuaile as threats to his kind, is working on his own plan for their destruction.

Forced to work at the base of Mount Olympus, Atticus and Granuaile must survive the three-month process of her binding and escape the many traps set for them. It’s fortunate that they have Oberon the Irish Wolfhound on their side—but is one good dog going to be enough to see them through it?

"It may be possible that Hearne and Atticus are the logical heir to Butcher and Dresden." (SFFWorld)

“Celtic mythology and an ancient Druid with modern attitude mix it up in the Arizona desert in this witty new fantasy series.” (Kelly Meding, author of Chimera)

Good, But

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Well if your following the story, I would say yes. It doesn't pay to start with this book, you would have to read the first four to have it make sense.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Trapped?

I really can't say, I was disappointed with the ending, it left you knowing there will be another book because, you were just left hanging. That kind of annoyed me, because the other four could stand alone with a definite ending.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've only listened to him doing this series, and he's wonderful with the different accents, and you defiantly know which character is speaking every time. If anything he really made the story more enjoyable.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Since there are Four books before this I think you couldn't do a stand alone movie.

Any additional comments?

I think that Kevin Hearne should have waited a bit and added to this book to make it more complete. Each of the other four books could stand alone and were very good. This one was kind of a let down because of the ending. Some one else mentioned that Jim Butcher's Dresden Files new book came out the same day # 14 "Cold Days" I listened to that already and as usual Butcher's books just get better and better. However, each of the books in the series, even though you should read in order to get full enjoyment, you can just pick anyone up and read a complete book. That is what this one book was missing it had a nice start up, and a good middle, but the end just hung there. I hope that book 6 comes out soon and doesn't do this kind of thing again.

Not as good as previous books in series

I really enjoyed the first three books in the series but felt like the last two books weren't as entertaining.

Luke Daniel's is Oberon

A bit complicated but still good. Oberon made me laugh out loud a few times. I'm glad I was in the truck alone. Luke is a VERY good narrator. the production quality is perfect as well.

Jaw Dropping Good

So in this installment of the Iron Druid series Atticus is has finished training his apprentice and is ready to bind her to the earth. Unfortunately, there are those who do not wish for another Druid to exist. On top of that, Atticus has made more enemies than friends in the last 13 years and they seem to eager to see him dead.

To my utter disappointment the love connection between Atticus and his apprentice is at its peak. I was hoping the author would do something different. It was too obvious from the moment she was introduced. Plus I don't like her and that should count for something ( LOL ) Atticus is special and one of a kind. He should have been paired with one of the Goddess... my hope was the Morrigan. And boy did I get some jaw Dropping news with that story line. It was the best revelation IN THIS WHOLE SERIES!

This book is packed with action. The author goes back to his writing style in HAMMERED and does alot of storytelling. It isn't bad but to me it didn't add ant real value. He could have had the characters summertime what happened but instead we get small short stories. Again they are bad, just seemed to be fillers.

Luke Daniels does an excellent job and has taken the spot of Top Male Narrator in my eyes.

Great performance, lagging story

As always, Luke Daniels delivers a flawless performance.

Kevin Hearne's sorry telling is entertaining and fast paced. However, the non-stop run for their lives, always just about killed, becomes tedious and dreary less than halfway through the book. This has happened in other series, where plot and character development takes a back seat to perpetual tense action. A little bit of near death is exciting. Too much of anything on repeat loses interest.

Having read short stories further along the series, I'll try another, and hope it isn't as tedious.
