Publisher's Summary

To stop her sadistic grandfather, Saul, and his band of time travelers from rewriting history, Kate must race to retrieve the CHRONOS keys before they fall into the Cyrists’ hands. If she jumps back in time and pulls the wrong key - one that might tip off the Cyrists to her strategy - her whole plan could come crashing down, jeopardizing the future of millions of innocent people. Kate’s only ally is Kiernan, who also carries the time-traveling gene. But their growing bond threatens everything Kate is trying to rebuild with Trey, her boyfriend who can’t remember the relationship she can’t forget.

As evidence of Saul’s twisted mind builds, Kate’s missions become more complex, blurring the line between good and evil. Which of the people Saul plans to sacrifice in the past can she and Kiernan save without risking their ultimate goal - or their own lives?

"Maybe I'm too much of an adult for this YA book"

I loved the author's first book Timebound and read it on my kindle. I had some issues with that book but let those issues go because I got a really great and interesting story.
I wished the narrator had a greater range playing different characters. It was the male voices that seemed very one-dimensional. Luckily one male character had an Irish accent so you could tell it was him, but for all the other men, the female narrator, seemed to only have one voice for all men.
Unfortunately for me, I'm a middle aged married woman who works in the history field and lives in Washington, DC. There is more of a romance, where our young heroine gets the attention of two hot guys and it is more of the story than in the last book. I'm not really into romances. Though the book is set in the DC metro area, I don't think it really captures the sections of the area it is set. But then again many writers never do get it right. As an adult, I found a few of the supposedly adult characters immature. I probably could have enjoyed it more if I turned my brain off.
Overall, it was a decent time travel book and the series is still looking promising. I didn't find the different time lines confusing, and despite the other issues I have with the characters, aspects of the story and the narrator, listening was enjoyable enough to pass the time.

    "Cliffhanger in Time"
Would you try another book from Rysa Walker and/or Kate Rudd?

Maybe....I enjoyed the first one Timebound....so I would give benefit of the doubt and try them again.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Disgusted. I did not feel I had a decent feeling of closure. I felt I was duped into having to read the next installment due to the cliffhanger.
After the first book I felt it was a finished story but hoped it would continue as it was well written and I enjoyed the characters. But...this time...I felt manipulated....ending was not good....just a feeling of 'haha you have to read on'. Not cool.

What three words best describe Kate Rudd’s performance?

I have heard worse....but I have heard better. The female voices are well done....but the male voices are lacking. Except for Keiren who has an Irish accent...all of the male characters sound exactly alike. Please....mix it up a little....stretch yourself and try something new to fix this. Other ladies have done it successfully....no reason why you can't.

Could you see Time's Edge being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

If Hunger Games and Twilight can be...surely there is room for this story.

    Any additional comments?

So much good to this story. I enjoyed it sooooo very much. I feel the ending robbed me of my delight in the overall book.

    "Downhill in multiple ways"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

    1. Take out the pointless sexual themes and content, they add nothing to the story.
    2. Focus more on the main plot, this one feels awkwardly paced all the way through.
    3. Write a YA novel that doesn't involve a silly love triangle (though like hunger games this one is tolerable at least)

Has Time's Edge turned you off from other books in this genre?

    Perhaps a little

What about Kate Rudd’s performance did you like?

She is good. Great at distinguishing characters and a nice emotional tone. Most importantly, not annoying sounding.

Was Time's Edge worth the listening time?

Not entirely, pretty forgettable. I liked the first book though.

    Any additional comments?

I will not let my children listen to/read this book. Too many sexual undertones for it's targeted age group. Maybe when they are in mid-end of high school. If the next book in the series doesn't wrap it up, I'm not going to bother buying anymore.

    "Not as magical"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, but I have considered recommending it to my niece, but there is a lot of unnecessary sex talk throughout this book, so I'm undecided. I enjoyed Timebound much more than this one. The sex felt out of place, it didn't support the plot or seem important to anything that was happening.

Have you listened to any of Kate Rudd’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I though this performance was very consistent with the other books in this series

    Any additional comments?

I am impressed at the author's ability to explain the jumping in time. When it comes to time travel, I think many authors find it difficult to explain how things are so non-linear, but Walker does a great job.

    "Time is not linear"

I don’t particularly like time travel books – Quantum Theory makes my head spin. However, this series is making me re-think the genre. I love that everything can change by one simple tweak in the past or the future. Time is not linear but only relative. Rysa Walker weaves an interesting tale of multiple timelines and events that change with the shifting of the sands. Sprinkle in some romance and adventure and you have one terrific listen.

"The story just keeps going on and on."
Would you try another book from Rysa Walker and/or Kate Rudd?

Not sure. She put way to much politically correct type BS that had NO place in the story.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I like Kernan character. But really don't care for the main character. She irritating and cycles in the same internal issues way to much.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    Didn't really have one.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Maybe.

    Any additional comments?

I was disappointed that this book wasn't the end of the series. It's getting to many characters and to many story lines going on. I will probably listen to the next in the series because I want to see how it ends, but I think the story line is dragging.

    "Awesome sequel!!!"
Who was your favorite character and why?

Gosh this is a difficult one because there's several characters that I love in these series. They are all very well done....but if I have to choose, I will have to say Kate (the MC) is my favorite. She is a realistic character (unlike so many other MC's in the YA world); she doesn't make stupid decisions or judgments, even her compulsive actions are well grounded. She's not helpless, and she certainly doesn't stop to swoon and think of how hot the guys are when there are more important things to do, which brings me to another good quality about her: SHE IS NOT ANNOYING

What about Kate Rudd’s performance did you like?

Everything. The voices, the accents...she is fantastic.

    Any additional comments?

Aside from characters, the plot itself was also well written. It flowed nicely and it kept me guessing the whole time; it gives you that sense of foreboding that the Cyrists have a card up their sleeve, but you just can't get a handle on it, which was frustrating in a good kind of way.

There is a love triangle, true, but this isn't your typical love triangle. It's very unique because of the different timelines, and not once did I feel that it bogged down on the story. Honestly, I think it added layers and complexity to it.

The whole time travel concept in this book is, in my opinion, brilliant (my brain literally hurts from trying to figure it all out). And the history aspect of the early 1900's is pretty awesome too; you can tell the author did her research.

Ok, if you are one of those thinkers who really has to have a firm grasp on timelines, this series is not for you. It is for pure entertainment! I'm not a time travel fan because it is very confusing but once I decided to just let the book tell the story and let go of trying to make sense of the timeline {because of course I am a linear thinker) the experience was suspenseful and so much fun! Great job Rysa! Kate is a great narrator! Lots of things that were touched on in Time's Echo are brought out in great detail in this book. It is so much fun and I can't wait until the next book. CRAZY, FUN, FANTABULOUS STUFF!

    "Sometimes irritating"

Kates character was hard to listen to sometimes. Rude and disrespectful at times.
There's more but, suffice it to say, I fast fwd past Kates dialogue several times. Saved myself the irritation.

    "Entertaining story"

Enjoyed listening each day on my way to work. Kate Rudd is very talented. Her narration brought life to the story. I got a bit irritated with Kate in the story. She is sometimes a bit much for a 17 year old. I am moving on to the third installment.
