Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.

The impossible has been accomplished. The Lord Ruler - the man who claimed to be god incarnate and brutally ruled the world for a thousand years - has been vanquished. But Kelsier, the hero who masterminded that triumph, is dead too, and now the awesome task of building a new world has been left to his young protégé, Vin, the former street urchin who is now the most powerful Mistborn in the land, and to the idealistic young nobleman she loves.

As Kelsier's protégé and slayer of the Lord Ruler she is now venerated by a budding new religion, a distinction that makes her intensely uncomfortable. Even more worrying, the mists have begun behaving strangely since the Lord Ruler died, and seem to harbor a strange vaporous entity that haunts her.

Stopping assassins may keep Vin's Mistborn skills sharp, but it's the least of her problems.

Luthadel, the largest city of the former empire, doesn't run itself, and Vin and the other members of Kelsier's crew, who lead the revolution, must learn a whole new set of practical and political skills to help. It certainly won't get easier with three armies - one of them composed of ferocious giants - now vying to conquer the city, and no sign of the Lord Ruler's hidden cache of atium, the rarest and most powerful allomantic metal.

As the siege of Luthadel tightens, an ancient legend seems to offer a glimmer of hope. But even if it really exists, no one knows where to find the Well of Ascension or what manner of power it bestows.

I'm truly loving this series.

This one ends just as the first in that you are left with a huge problem and until you read the next book it's like you are left near the door of understanding but not close enough to open it.

Amazing Story

This book has made me awake through the late hours as I can't seem to wait until I find out how the stories would end. I loved it and I love the narrator.

This was a quite low quality recording. lots of click and fuzz and background noise. the story was amazing though and made it easy to ignore the shaky quality.

Good continuation of the Mistborn series!

Sanderson does not disappoint in the second book of the Mistborn series. His writing continues to be very tight and descriptive. It's almost as if I'm there, either fighting beside Vin, or as a fly on the wall in the meetings that Elend has with Ham, Breeze, and the rest of the gang. I get totally engrossed in Sanderson's descriptions.

While this book was good, it was not great. It did not grab me like the first book of the series did, but, that's okay. It was still a good read. Sanderson spends most of this book having the various figures jockey for position. He's moving all his pieces into place for what promises to be a thrilling finale in book three. At times the book seems to drag, but he does periodically feed you some new information, answer an intriguing question, or introduce some juicy tidbit that keeps things going.

There were a few "whoa!" moments in the book that kind of shocked me and that I did not see coming. Again, a very good book, and a solid segue to book three, which I have already started!!! If you liked the first book, you'll like this one too.

Once again, Michael Kramer delivers! His acting of the various roles, giving each character their own voice adds great depth to an already deep tale. His reading is such that it doesn't overpower the story. It adds another layer that allows the listener to be totally immersed.

Vin is my favorite character of the three books, see starts out as an under dog and becomes amazing with her skills.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but do to how long it was I was unable to do so, but I found my self waiting in my driveway to finish the next chapter more than once.

Brisk read with just enough to savor

Sanderson does a fine job of juggling a lot of story lines while maintaining a broad arc to follow. Well paced and not too introspective, I find myself wanting to hear the next story. That perhaps is my highest praise.

great book, great series

Really solid book. Mistborn 1 was more enjoyable, I found, but the plot in Well of Ascension is a bit more complex and still greatly enjoyable
