Publisher's summary

Superheroes battle the living dead in this hilarious spoof on the comic book universe! The Undead Pool is a humorous and demented origin story of former mercenary Mace Murdock, who after being subjected to an experiment from the evil clown Zarathustra that leaves him with accelerated healing powers and the hunger for human brains, adopts the alter ego The Undead Pool. Armed with his new abilities and a twisted sense of humor, he joins forces with superheroes Stable, Psychotic Menacing Schoolgirl, and Tigernaut to battle Zarathustra and his zombie clown army. The comedy never ends in this science fiction and horror parody of every superhero and supervillain that comic book enthusiasts love and hate.

a tongue in cheek parody of a self referencing comic book parody. I enjoyed it.

A parody of a parody of a movie from a comic book

Derek Ailes has some serious cajones, because I don't care what the rights are when it comes to parody and satire there is a tightrope being walked here that I would not want to be on. CLearly, he is riffing on Marvel's Deadpool, and I hafta say he does a dang good job of it too. In fact, I would almost say that he does it better that the comic most of the time, but the biggest thing for me was when he was talking to Weasel, oops, wrong guy. When he was talking to a friend, and they were coming up with a super name for him not only was the scene right from the movie, but there was literally no reason for the name Undead Pool to come up, and for some reason they go from stuff like the crimson slasher and Captain Brownpants to just saying how about Undead Pool? Someone in legal has to have their head fizzing right now.

If I am honest, and I am, this is a a fun laugh out loud book that makes no apology for what it is, what it is doing, and where it takes you. I can utterly respect that, and enjoy the crap out of it. I make no bones when I say that the book is humorous and there are parts where you will belly laugh, snicker, snigger, and snort. So, if you hate to laugh or take life too seriosly please stay away. Also, Ailes manages to really pull of the fourth wall bit in this book, too. Some of the funniest stuff.

Moore plays the crap outta this story and his irreverant attitude overflows with his enthusiasm as he reads this tale of a brain eating mercenary zombie. You can just feel the fun he is having, and it is infectious. You will either smile or laugh outright at things he says just because of his inflections.

Any fan of marvel's (Un)Deadpool will love this book. I really hope that Ailes iron pair get bigger and he opts to write another .44 magnum opus like this again. Enjoy.

Really well done

This book is full of humor and chaos. It's definitely a story that needs to be listened to. And, it definitely needed to be performed, and performed well. I wasn't a fan of Dead Pool, and am not sure I would have liked this book if I hadn't listened to it, and tried reading it. It's a spoof on several comics. But, the narrator pulls you in immediately. And, each character is so unique and distinct. I was blown away at the versatility, and the perfect line delivery so the listener would actually get the humor amongst the chaos. The performance felt more like you were watching what was happening with these very strange characters. Trying to imagine that quality of performance would be asking a lot of the average reader. It felt like it was written to be experienced via audio or visual performance. Or, the narrator just did such a great job, it made it seem that way. Really well performed and entertaining short listen.

Copyright be Damned !

Brilliant , Funny , Entertaining (did I mention it is a good read...).
I caught myself laughing. The hero is SO immature which is his most endearing quality.
The narrator does an excellent job and the story pace never leaves you bored.
Thank you. Now, when is the next chapter of the Undead Pool, due to be release? I'm now an official Undead Pool groupie!
