The sequel to The Rookie, The Starter is a star-spanning coming-of-age space opera combined with the gritty world of organized crime, all set against a backdrop of a far-future professional football league. Nineteen-year-old second-year quarterback Quentin Barnes has overcome racism and unified his team. He led the Ionath Krakens to a lower-tier championship, a championship that earned them promotion into the meat grinder known as "Tier One."
Now, Quentin and his teammates have to compete against the greatest football teams ever assembled, and do far more than just survive each game. As he rebuilds the team in his own image, Quentin's true quest for a Tier One championship begins.

My taste differs from kid books to gory horror books.
MILLER, A SWILISH WATERED DOWN BEER
I have been the commissioner of a fantasy football league since 1992. I have been a Kansas City Chiefs fan, since the Hank Stram days. My wife is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. We watch Thursday, all day Sunday and Monday Night football. My point is, I am a huge football fan, but not to the point this book goes. If you are not into football, there is no way you will enjoy this. I loved book one, but I guess I love world building or universe building. That was all done in book one and nothing new is added to universe building in this book. To make up for that Sigler goes into detail on everything. He goes into detail on all the different species, what they look like, their reproduction practices, why they are they way they are and so forth. The football games are in excruciating detail. So and So blocked down, while so and so ran blank pattern. He block down because. The blank pattern is. I like football, but that is more than I want to hear. Sigler is a very inventive writer, but I think I am done with this series.
This is a fantastic book. It is super funny and interesting
John Tweety. He has a full body sub dermal tattoo that scroll hilarious jokes and wiseass comments throughout the book. He is so darn funny
Scott Sigler brings an enthusiasm that is infectious, you cant help but smile and laugh
Scott Sigler is a hell of a good narrator
I will always be a fan of this series and the author. I am not a sports fan, but I am a fan of sci-fi. This book is great on both fronts. Be warned: If you listen to this book you will consume the entire series like a psyco, robe wearing, Harry Potter fan.
OEF Veteran Wife and Desert Storm Veteran
Really original. I love football and fantasy/sci-fi so this is a great mix. The author is great at narrative giving unique voices to all the characters.
I rarely enjoy listening to or viewing a sporting event, so do not follow play by plays easily. But, I did enjoy this book. The outside of the stadium shenanigans got interesting
These books thus far have been action packed. The author's narrative really adds to the story. I am not sure I'd enjoy the books as much just reading them.
Great series by Scott Sigler. I have been following his works since PodioBooks. Keep 'em coming as fast and furious as you can, Scott.
