Publisher's summary

The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

In The Shadow Rising, the fourth novel in Robert Jordan’s number one New York Times best-selling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al’Thor now wields the sword Callandor. He is both the Champion of Light and the Dragon Reborn. Now, he seeks answers to another prophecy that lies with the warrior people known as the Aiel to put him on the path of learning how to wield the One Power.

Accompanied by Moiraine Damodred, Rand arrives at the Aiel Waste and is granted permission by the Wise Ones to enter the sacred city of Rhuidean. After passing through a doorframe ter'angreal, Moiraine gains foresight while the Aiel await Rand's return, either with both arms marked by dragon symbols, validating his identity as He Who Comes With the Dawn, the Chief of Chiefs of all the Aiel - or to never emerge at all.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant number one New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

"Jordan's multivolume epic continues to live up to its high ambitions. Complex plotting, an array of strong characters, lavish detail, and a panoramic scope make this series a feast for fantasy aficionados." (Library Journal)

"The fourth volume of the most ambitious American fantasy saga continues to suggest that The Wheel of Time will also be the finest." (Booklist)

The Action Begins!

So, sure... there was action in the other novels... but it really takes shape in this aptly named book. There is a lot of conflict; both internal and external. This has to have been my favorite book in the series to date. On to the next one!

Amazing and engaging

If you have read any of my previous reviews, then you know that I have read and listened to this series multiple times.

This book is such an incredible experience. Jordan carries the reader through a series of emotions with superb skill. The three main male characters come into their own, and the main female characters finally start to become very likeable.

I laughed. I cried.

The performance from Kramer is wonderfully entertaining (as usual). Pleasantly, the performance by Reading is her best.

fantastic! best book in series, yet!

This was an amazing book and the narration was spot on! I'm so used to these voices for these characters now, that I will hear those when I actually read the books again. audio books are a great tool when I'm knitting or driving. so glad I found WoT!

Excellent

I love Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time Series! Great for those who enjoy Sagas. I've already read the complete series, but thought I would enjoy it in audiobooks. I was not let down!

Great story

The book and storyline were great as always, but the narrators of the audio book made many mistakes while reading this, I understand a few here and there but there we're alot, I mean ALOT. On the very last page of the book the narrator said "The wind of time" instead of wheel. Like, come on!? it's the name of the series. Otherwise a great job and a great book.

One of the best in the series.

Here things begin to split up and get interesting as the main characters go through their own trials. The growth of the characters begins in earnest as well and moving forward it will continue. The plots thicken more and flesh out broadening the world we're living in here. All in all a masterful broadening of scope and storytelling.

Maybe the best fantasy novel I've read

Reading fantasy for around 30 years and first read this as a 16 year old. 20 years later and it's better than remembered. Every plotline is fantastic, all the revelations are brilliantly foreshadowed, the characters each get enough time to shine (ok Elayne got a bit too much time) and the climaxes to the four main storylines are chef's kisses. Brilliant brilliant stuff
