    "Horrible Narration"
What would have made The Pirate King better?

Please have Victor Bevine re-read this book so that it may be properly enjoyed. The current narrator is horrific! Grating on the ears, cadence and pronunciation is atrocious! I feel cheated.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    When you have Victor re-read.

How could the performance have been better?

    Victor Bevine. Enough said

    "Desperately need Victor Bevine back!!!"

Story, this narrator is HARD to get used to. His pronunciations are awful. It doesn't seem like the real Driddzt stories.

    "Narrator's Count"
If you could sum up The Pirate King in three words, what would they be?

    Very awesome story!!

What other book might you compare The Pirate King to and why?

There is no comparison for Drizzt except other Drizzt books!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mark Bramhall?

    Victor Bevine

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Several places throughout the book.

    Any additional comments?

I love these books and was looking very forward to hearing the Pirate King, but when I started listening, I was floored by this narrator. He may be a good narrator in another kind of book but he does not even pronounce the words correctly. I am having trouble concentrating on the book because of his way of narrating. I have read the book and I know that it is a fantastic story but this narrator is ruining it!!!

"Story over-run by rambling contemplation of navel!"
Has The Pirate King turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No

    Any additional comments?

I like the proposition of the story in this book and the series. Unfortunately, the actually story is over-run with hypothesizing and thought bubbles as the characters "consider" and "contemplate" the meaning of the universe. The author wastes hours between otherwise exciting story-segments seemingly to make this book long enough to sell to the publisher.

    "Great men make bad decisions"

For years those of us who have followed this series have enjoyed learning all about various characters that come and go. It’s always to good to hear about them after some time. Here we meet Captain Deudermont being pushed to help liberate a town from a tyrant. Yet, is this the correct move?

We see the beginning of the undoing of magic in this story, but no one see’s it for what it really is at this point in time. This causes lots of grief for Regis as he doesn’t realise what he’s seeing! We see him struggle with so much in this story and how will this impact him in future stories.

We see Drizzt applying the knowledge he learned from the two moon wood elves, but is he really ready for all those lessons? I really did like this story for all the points here without posting any spoilers. I would like to see the narrator replaced and and someone else re-record this story line.
