Publisher's summary

Drizzt returns to Luskan, and the Realms will never be the same!

The Arcane Brotherhood has long held the city of Luskan in their power, but when corruption eats away at their ranks, Captain Deudermont comes to the rescue of a city that has become a safe haven for the Sword Coast's most dangerous pirates. But rescuing a city from itself may not be as easy as Deudermont thinks, and when Drizzt can't talk him out of it, he'll be forced to help.

Drizzt is back in action again, and bringing more changes to the Forgotten Realms setting. This all new hardcover adventure will keep Drizzt fans guessing the whole way, with edge-of-your-seat action and plot twists that even the most casual listener of the Forgotten Realms novel line can't afford to miss.

Horrible Narration

What would have made The Pirate King better?

Please have Victor Bevine re-read this book so that it may be properly enjoyed. The current narrator is horrific! Grating on the ears, cadence and pronunciation is atrocious! I feel cheated.

What do you think your next listen will be?

When you have Victor re-read.

How could the performance have been better?

Victor Bevine. Enough said

Desperately need Victor Bevine back!!!

Story, this narrator is HARD to get used to. His pronunciations are awful. It doesn't seem like the real Driddzt stories.

Narrator's Count

If you could sum up The Pirate King in three words, what would they be?

Very awesome story!!

What other book might you compare The Pirate King to and why?

There is no comparison for Drizzt except other Drizzt books!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mark Bramhall?

Victor Bevine

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several places throughout the book.

Any additional comments?

I love these books and was looking very forward to hearing the Pirate King, but when I started listening, I was floored by this narrator. He may be a good narrator in another kind of book but he does not even pronounce the words correctly. I am having trouble concentrating on the book because of his way of narrating. I have read the book and I know that it is a fantastic story but this narrator is ruining it!!!

Read This Yourself

if you can, skip this one on audible and read it. This Narrator is not capable of drawing you in like others.

Loved it

Still miss Victor Bevine *grumbles*. Great book though, one of the best. I don't do spoilers so that's it for my review ;)

mediocre

drizzt felt like a side character throughout the book. I just couldn't help but think why the hell do I really give a shit about deodermont and luskan? I was glad to be done with this book.

Story over-run by rambling contemplation of navel!

Has The Pirate King turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Any additional comments?

I like the proposition of the story in this book and the series. Unfortunately, the actually story is over-run with hypothesizing and thought bubbles as the characters "consider" and "contemplate" the meaning of the universe. The author wastes hours between otherwise exciting story-segments seemingly to make this book long enough to sell to the publisher.

I love Salvatore

I have read everything Salvatore has published. I love his series'. I love all of them. This book was a bit less than his usual but I still enjoyed the story.
