Publisher's summary

Savannah is considered a Southern treasure, a city of beauty with a rich, colorful past. Some might even call it magical....

To the uninitiated, Savannah shows only her bright face and genteel manner. Those who know her well, though, can see beyond her colonial trappings and small-city charm to a world where witchcraft is respected, Hoodoo is feared, and spirits linger. Mercy Taylor is all too familiar with the supernatural side of Savannah, being a member of the most powerful family of witches in the South.

Despite being powerless herself, of course.

Having grown up without magic of her own, in the shadow of her talented and charismatic twin sister, Mercy has always thought herself content. But when a series of mishaps - culminating in the death of the Taylor matriarch - leaves a vacuum in the mystical underpinnings of Savannah, she finds herself thrust into a mystery that could shake her family apart...and unleash a darkness the line of Taylor witches has been keeping at bay for generations.

In The Line, the first book of the Witching Savannah series, J. D. Horn weaves magic, romance, and betrayal into a captivating Southern Gothic fantasy with a contemporary flair.

Enjoyable read!

Lately Amazon has suggested books I normally wouldn't think of. This was one of them. I really enjoyed this and purchased the audio to go along with it so I could listen on my daily commute. I enjoyed the young heroine of the story. So much that I'm going to look into getting the next book in the series. The audio narrator did a great job too!

Loved it!

I was really apprehensive about listening to this book because of the southern twangy accent. I am from the South, but I have such a hard time listening to stories with a drawn out accent. I am SO glad I listened to this one though. The narrator had a very captivating voice and her accent fit perfectly in with the storyline. I didn't feel like she was drawing things out or making it seem unrealistic. I was actually excited to listen to this. Plus the story was GREAT, so bonus! The book has been on my ever growing and unruly TBR list and I haven't had time to fit it in. KU had this with narration so I decided to give it a shot. You will not be disappointed if you like fantasy.

Interesting

Quite a different story with many twists that were unexpected. Good witches, not quite like Samantha. Lots of dark creatures too.

nice quick read

I'm really into witchy books, magic and romance. This was innocent and cute. Savannahs charm was also a reason to have picked this one. not too long and it grabbed my attention the first minutes in. Overall good story.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was hesitant to listen to this book, because I typically don't listen to or read YA. I finally gave it a try after it continually showed up as a suggested read based on my reading history. I'm so glad I did. The story drew me in with unexpected twists and turns, and the narrator was outstanding. I look forward to listening to the other books in this series.

Exciting story turns

Just as I thought I knew where the story would go, it switched again. Oh, I figured out a few but there were so many more. It kept my attention so much I finished listening within 2 days. This is a face narrator which is why I selected the book since I didn’t know the author. On to the barge next book in the series.

Enjoyable Listen for me...

If you could sum up The Line in three words, what would they be?

Creative, Engaging, Fun

Who was your favorite character and why?

Geelo of course, everyone loves an old swamp witch.

Any additional comments?

To me, witch books are written to entertain, and this series is certainly entertaining me. I am enjoying the character development and the emotional tension that is building between certain characters. I'm no writer, but I am a listener, and I am thankful to have found this series. Wish there were more.
