In 1985, The Observer magazine sent Douglas Adams to Madagascar to look for the exotic and potentially extinct aye-aye lemur. There he met zoologist Mark Carwardine, and together they made a radio pilot about their travels, In Search of the Aye-Aye. This led to a hugely popular radio series, Last Chance to See, later adapted as a best-selling book. Douglas Adams died in 2001, but his friend Stephen Fry took his place for a follow-up 20th anniversary television series, broadcast on BBC Two in 2009.

I like the story, but the recording is dated
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The audio quality is no good. It's a shame, but the date does show. Also, the last hour or so is not part of the story, but the story of how the recording came to be.

First radio play / play I have been to follow. Good stuff. Did not realize that hitch hikers was originally a radio show. Which also means that non music non talk radio lasted far longer in England than USA. Great program!

It's great to hear the differences between this original and the books and TV series that came after it. A great original cast journeys around the galaxy in this version. Well worth the time of any Douglas Adams fan!

Awesome book .....so much fun
This is a great series. It's so much fun to hear the book/radio scripts being played. I want my electric thumb so I can come along to.
