Publisher's summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.

In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?

In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.

In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.

Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn....

Critic reviews

"The Wheel of Time...is a fantasy tale seldom equaled and still less often surpassed in English." ( Chicago Sun-Times)
"Jordan has a powerful vision of good and evil - but what strikes me as most pleasurable...is all the fascinating people moving through a rich and interesting world." (Orson Scott Card on The Wheel of Time)

The Gathering Storm is a great book

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading do a stupendous job in their reading of The Gathering Storm as they have with all their readings of the wheel of time series. As for the story Brandon Sanderson brings life back into Robert Jordan's work. He brings or starts to bring close many of the subplots of the previous books. His writing style, while his own, is very similar to Jordan's. This combined with Jordan's notes and journal has combined into an excellent beginning to the end of Jordan's epic tale. “There are neither beginnings nor endings in the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was A beginning.”(Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time Series, All books, Chapter 1 Paragraph 1)

One of the Best in the Series - Very Well Narrated

Very true to the series with perfect narration - well paced, clear, performed very well, and consistent across the series. Certainly one of the best books in the series.

Jordan is smiling down on us

When I firat heard Brandon Sanderson was going to write the last book of the wheel of time , i was worried .
I wondered if anyone could hope to fill Robert Jordans shoes ...
So i bought "Mist Born" one of Brandon Sanderson's novels i had heard so much about...
It was a wonderful book ... but different in style.
As An avid Wheel Of Time Fan of over 12 years I still had to have this book .
I must say .. WOW !!! this book was awesome!!
great job!! Jordan will would be happy !!
I could go on for 10 pages of praise about the wonders of this book but ill just say its as good as books 4,5 and 6 .. i need say no more ..
all of the lose ends are coming together and the whell turns on.

Thank goodness for Brandon Sanderson

I love the world that Jordan built with WOT, but I really love the way Sanderson tells a story. I was actually starting to not like Rand until the exciting end of this book. I really like the twists and turns of this book and all of the action. Excited to get through the next two books again. I barely made it through the middle of the series.

Breath of fresh air after Jordans books

The previous six books or so were tedious for me, so as a fan of Sanderson's other works, I greatly looked forward to these. This one did not disappoint.

I'm also glad he didn't feel the need to continue telling the reader each time that women fold their arms, it's under their breasts. The cringe has finally been cured, by the author reborn.

Welcome Brandon Sanderson

While these books were enjoyable with Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson takes them to the next level. Sanderson's writes with an edge that Jordan was just not able to deliver. I would not call the books "dark" now, but they do possess a depth that just wasn't there before. That is not an insult to Jordan, it is just that Sanderson is a great writer. There are several scenes in the book that move you to the edge of your seat - and yes, I may have been moved to tears once or twice. Can't wait to start book 13!

Different writer same books.

Only in a very few instances could I determined that it was a different writer writing this book. You can tell Brandon really loved this series. If you would've told me that it was still Robert writing this I don't think I could've been able to tell the difference. I am excited to finally get to the end of the series I do believe it could've been a 10 book series easily but here we are. After reading this book I will probably pick up Brandon's other series Mistborn.
