Critic reviews

"Dan Simmons was a star from the outset. It was the Hyperion books that made him a superstar. The man, quite simply, is what we in the trade call a writer's writer." (Mike Resnick, Hugo and Nebula Award-winning author)
"State of the art science fiction...A landmark novel." (Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine)

2nd best book in the series

The most unfortunate part of this book is they couldn’t get the original cast to voice all the characters

A great, necessary, conclusion!

I posted a review of the first book in the series, Hyperion, giving credit to the voice actors, but expressing my disappointment at the cliffhanger ending. Well, the pace of this book and its scope was fantastic. I personally think that they should’ve been one volume, but if you managed to get through Hyperion, this book is necessary, and this narrator is great. Unlike the first book, which had a cast, there is only one narrator, but the reason for that becomes apparent a short way into the book. All the thumbs up!

Wonderful continuation of the first book

If you liked the first book, I'd recommend you pick up this one too. From what I read, it's the second part of one book broken into two.

The real end of the Story.

I feel like this was the end to Hyperion. We finally figure out most of the loose plot lines. I very much enjoyed it. It is an awesome story.

Required if you read Hyperion

If you already read Hyperion and are looking to see if the sequel holds up… yes, yes it does. Fall continues right where Hyperion left off and is a beautiful conclusion to the cantos. If you haven’t read Hyperion yet, what are you doing here? Go read it already

Amazing storytelling

Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion are remarkable pieces of fiction. Wildly prescient, vivid world building, full of Big Ideas, and lovable characters. Sci Fi at its best.
