The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Moiraine Damodred arrives in Emond’s Field on a quest to find the one prophesized to stand against The Dark One, a malicious entity sowing the seeds of chaos and destruction. When a vicious band of half-men, half beasts invade the village seeking their master’s enemy, Moiraine persuades Rand al’Thor and his friends to leave their home and enter a larger unimaginable world filled with dangers waiting in the shadows and in the light.

Amazing start to hopefully a great journey

Honestly was a little hesitant to start this series because it’s so long but very glad I took the leap. It starts off as any other fantasy series with setting the scene but honestly it’s only set a small amount before diving head first into a fight for survival. The main characters are relatable and really make you root for them the whole time. The double narrator is definitely one of the best parts. Having a man read the male perspective and a woman read the women’s made it way more enjoyable and added some depth I didn’t expect. Looking forward to the future of this series and the insane world that it has in store

an interesting listen

I had just came, fresh off the stormlight archives and audible had recommended this book, I didn't realize that this book is a great inspiration for so many modern fantasy writers. fills in the need for more high fantasy, can wait to hear the rest

Interesting fantasy series

Great world building with an element of mystery. although you can guess about halfway through what will happen to the main character. There is action throughout but it doesn't always feel like there is consequence to it. The characters are very human and act rationally. I'm very interested to see what comes next

a bit deus ex machina but lovely

the characters are painfully naive but slowly waking up in this book, and the overall effect is charming and engaging if a little frustrating at times. I'm excited to continue my journey with Robert Jordan in this series.

Great fantasy journey. Not too slow for me.

There are a number of characters and phenomena in this story that superficially mimic Tolkien, as well as components of the underlying quest. It bothered me for a bit at first, but it is actually not a problem and the book is definitely original. I use these types of books for sleep primarily, and this was great for that.
A bit slow at first but really not that much. It is more world building.

The Eye of the World: An instant classic

Right now the eye of the world is my favorite wheel of time book because it is the perfect entry into the world. It feels like an old classic and despite it being the lord of the rings but with character development I still feels it fulfills the quest fantasy hole in my soul.

Wonderful Story

Michael was a wonderful narrator. Kate could have done better. As is with the rest of the series.
