Seven centuries in the future, the sport of American football has never been bigger, never been faster, never been more lethal. Trillions of fans from all over the galaxy watch six unique races battle in contests so violent that deaths are part of the stat sheet. Star quarterback Quentin Barnes has led his beloved Ionath Krakens to glory on the gridiron and become the most-recognized individual in history, but it is off the field where his world crumbles around him. Over four seasons with Ionath, he's picked up powerful enemies, one of which drove his sister into the Portath Cloud, a place from which no ship returns. Because his enemies include his team owner - a possessive crime lord who treats players like property - and the ruling government that controls the shipping lanes, Quentin and his friends must hide from the media spotlight as they search for a way to rescue his sister.
Set against the backdrop of a professional American football franchise seven centuries in the future, the Galactic Football League puts huge humans on the field with five alien races to create a game that is faster, stronger, and deadlier than anything we know today. Quarterback Quentin Barnes has grown from a racist, small-town standout into a proven leader, a uniter of peoples, and the Galaxy's most-famous athlete. Willing to do anything for his team, his Ionath Krakens have bound together through shared sacrifice, tragedy, devastating losses and thrilling victories. The GFL series melds star-spanning scifi, brutal crime fiction, and intense sports action into a smash-mouth extravaganza unlike anything you've read before.

I listen to it all the time. Work, home, in bed while I should be making sweet love my wife, it's always a good time to listen to the Dark Overlord.
It's easy to get lost in the GFL, I can't wait until it gets it's big break and sweeps Hollywood. I just hope Michael Bay doesn't take a hot steaming dump on it.
Buy the damn book.
Another entertaining entry from Sigler who also provides a fantastic performance for the listener. Get this series!
The only downfall to this book, is that some day the series will end. This is so well written that all I keep thinking is this series should be on the big screen. If the big screen can do it justice that is. You really get in the mind of all the characters the way it is written, and read. Awesome job Mr. Sigler
Scott Sigler has become one of my favorite authors through this series. It so fun and exciting to listen to. So easy to get caught up in the performance, as he acts out each character. If you like sifi and football this is a must!
Top 5 in my list of Must reads
The Starter, The Rookie, The All Pro, The MVP
Quentin Barns playing the Gridiron like it was a Computer game.
Highly recommend this Range of Books to either Gridiron Fans or Sci-fi Fans ... it has a broad scope of Appeal. Cant Wait for book VI
Have enjoyed this author the days of Earthcore. Definitely a name that I have been passing onto others for years. I love the way you can so quickly visualise his characters and disappear into the world and story he has created in your minds eye. Awesome fusion of Horror/Sci Fi/Sports fiction. Many thanks to Scott
Too hard to pin just one.
"Sigler at his awsome best"
The ultimate adventure of the Ionath Krackens which you will enjoy time and time again.Just eat your brocolli. Make sure you have some tissues.
"Great great great"
Best instalment yet
Takes the story to a new level and is opening up a universe of possible avenues for the author to go down next
amazing. sigler is the daddy. can't wait for the next installment. now run the plays that I call
"Another belter from Sigler"
Sigler does it again. love all the GFL books. can't wait for the next one.
"Scott Sigler ups the GFL ante again."
Yeah when all 7 of the books are in I plan to relisten to it all back to back
Too many spoilers to be fair so I can't give anything away but there was a moment with uncle johnny and the gouger where I realised that the series was not being planned book to book but from start to finish of the series.
uncle Johnny ain't he everyones.
I couldn't half way I was so angry with QBs treatment of uncle johnny I stopped reading for two weeks until I got my temper back.
Its darker and the feeling of slowly growing dread is palpable, slowly you fear more for the characters you care for which is a rare thing. But if you have not go from the start and listen to the rookie first.
"The Krakens Return"
More of the boys own adventure that is the Galactic Football League. As enjoyable as ever although Quentin continues to be frustrating (he's a young man, sure, but he needs to stop being an impetuous dick) but ultimately a strong protagonist.
Plenty of story development as the Krakens make their bid for the bowl. Can't wait for the next one.
Well worth a listen if you like American Football and sci-fi.
