Publisher's summary

The number one New York Times best-selling series finale and sequel to A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night.

Look for the hit TV series A Discovery of Witches, streaming on AMC Plus, Sundance Now, and Shudder.

Bringing the magic and suspense of the All Souls Trilogy to a deeply satisfying conclusion, this highly anticipated finale went straight to number one on the New York Times best seller list. In The Book of Life, Diana and Matthew time-travel back from Elizabethan London to make a dramatic return to the present - facing new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home, Sept-Tours, they reunite with the beloved cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency.

An excellent read

The ITV series is the perfect companion to this trilogy of books. As with the Harry Potter series, the books pair well with the screen adaptations. Jennifer Ikeda is a wonderful narrator and I look forward to listening to more of her narration.

Great conclusion to the All Souls Trilogy!

This has been the darkest of the three book in my opinion. This deals with seriously triggering issues including rape (not of the main characters), graphic torture, and past trauma possibly including child molestation (implied but not graphic). That all being said, man it was a good book. The stakes are just that high! I did love the direction this book took initially. I wanted more on the book of life (you know, the title of the book?) but it felt like they only got to the book in a very round about way. However, the conclusion was so satisfying and everything really fell into place.

It was wonderful to meet the babies!

I even loved that Matthew and Diana separated for a time, that was really their time to shine as individuals where they had been so inseparable before.

There were times I hated the book (see above re triggers and darkness) only to turn around and love it again. And the same thing happened with certain character (cough, Baldwin, cough).

I’m not going to ruin it but I have seen some people found this book anti-climactic maybe? I couldn’t disagree more. I thought everything was tied up nicely. The book of life solved, the mystery’s about daemons, witches, and vampires solved, why Diana and Matt can have kids, solved.

AND ITS NOT TWILIGHTY AT ALL! There was a moment I was afraid it might slightly go in that direction and I’m NOT pleased with the direction the author did take with Gallowglass (mostly because I loathe any inkling of a love triangle) but it was very minor in the grand scheme of the book.

I know there is one more book left but I actually loved the wrapping up of this one, it’s the perfect spot for a nice break. And since Phoebe is a meh character imo so I’m going to wait a while, read a couple other things until I crave being in this world again. Then I shall return!

good story line.

So, I've finished the series now, and I'll say this. It was good. Great story line. However, the author tends to be on the wordy side and tries too hard to be symbolic.

I will always want more!

This series is amazing and I will always want more of it. The author, the narrator, the characters. I am in love with Gallowglass. If only he were real. Every time one of the books in this series ends I am hungry for the next and sad to know that there will be an end to the series. It is bittersweet. Please listen to this series! It has romance, mystery, suspence, and fantasy. What more could you want?
