    "Really creative twists"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely! I am a big fan of Mr Bertauski's work. He always crafts a creative tale with brilliant twists and turns the reader does not expect.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the world building, Foreverland is fleshed out beautifully. There is real skill in making a story pop while surprising and delighting the reader.

What about Paul Licameli’s performance did you like?

I love his flow and the action he was able to create with his voice. He really connected with the story and added energy with his read. His voices were consistent and distinct. I will definitely look for more of his reads, he gives happy ears!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is more of a long listen than one sitting. I am not always thrilled with sci-fi/fantasy type reads like this. I need to break them up into several listens to really appreciate what they are giving me.

    Any additional comments?

When you are looking for a story that has detailed worlds, with flowing descriptions and a rich textured plot, you can not go wrong with Tony Bertauski.

    "GREAT!!"

This book wasn't at all what I was expecting. I didn't bother to read what the story was even about. I really thought it would be something about the Fae and Elves but I was wrong, dead wrong. I guess I should start reading the excerpts so I won't be surprised again. I must say that I really hate surprises even if they are good ones. I might be an adrenalin junkie but I really hate being surprised. I'm grateful for being gifted this story because I might never have given it a chance. I'm going to make it as spoiler free as I can. I normally write the brief description of what the book reads write a few additions to it. I think I'll just get right to my review of this story.

The narrator Paul Licameli did a wonderful job performing this story. This is the first book that I ever listened to by Paul and I'm thankful that I listened to this story. I really dislike that narators don't receive enough credit for what they do. I've looked at so many reviews on Audible that don't even mention the narrator. I must say that's wrong. If you enjoyed the story it's because the narrator did his job and did it well so please give credit to these narrators, not just the author. I don't have one bad thing to say about Paul's performance. I found it to be superb! He grabbed me and pulled me right in and he left me begging for more. Honestly, I know the secong book will be narrated by a woman, Linda Velwest. I really believe Paul could've done the second book also. This book didn't have really any female roles but a couple and he sounded fine as he did those characters. Overall, he did a wonderful job distinguishing every characters voice and I didn't have any trouble knowing who was speaking. He's another narrator that I would recommend to authors. If you enjoyed this story check out others that Paul Licameli has narrated. I thoroughly enjoyed Aladdin Relighted and no it's not a children's book.

One reason I wrote that I might never had given this story a chance is because I don't like Science Fiction/Fantasy but the more I keep listening to audios that are Science Fiction the more that I'm finding that I've been wrong about this genre. Tony Bertauski did a great job with developing the storyline and characters. I really liked several of the characters like Danny Boy. It took me a little while but I grew to love Reed, he reminded me of my son. Tony wrote Reed's character to be strong, tough, and determined not to give up or give in. That only made the guardians angry and the man who created Foreverland. They are determined to break Reed and make an example of him. I did have trouble understanding the first two chapters but I continued to listen and I was hooked. I even went back and started it over from the beginning because I didn't want to miss anything.

Bertauski's imagination went above and beyond when creating this story. I loved the direction he went with the story. I never expected how things would turn out. As the unfolded I began understanding more about the plot and indeed a perfectly woven story Bertauski created. It had lots of twists and turns that I immersed myself in. If I was a reader then I'm sure this would be a page turner. I couldn't stop listening to the story until I finished it in one day, well about 8hrs or less. This story even touched my heart as I listened to parts of it. The next story is called Foreverland is Dead and you can really read them or listen to them in any order you want to. I listened to them as it showed the order of the two books. I believe they can be read/listened as stand alone books but I highly recommend listening to them both. Yes, I've listened to Foreverland is Dead and Bertauski has blown me away. These two books are for teens and adults. I loved this story and I know you'll love this story as much as I did. I think you might even have a favorite out of the two because I do.

"Review: The Annihilation of Foreverland, by Tony B"

The Annihilation of Foreverland is one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read this year. It’s entertaining, a little out there, and makes you think.

While I found this book to be different and new in many ways, I can also find similarities with many other popular (more mature) YA books/series. Ender’s Game was one that came to mind right away. The Hunger Games, and some other dystopian titles can also be grouped with Bertauski’s novel. I think fans of either of those books, dystopian, and books with an alternate or cyber reality might like to check this one out.

I think my favorite part of this book was Foreverland. It’s concept and the virtual world itself, made me wonder about the real-life possibilities of the human mind and our computer technology. This is often the case when it comes to science fiction and I think the author set it up effectively. I also thought the characters were great. Danny Boy, one of the main characters, was my favorite. All of the characters were well-developed and played a big role in the story. There were even a few times when I sympathized for the “bad guys.” With a story like this one, it’s not easy to do (but you’ll have to read it to know what that’s all about. can’t reveal too much without spoiling this one.)

This is the first book of a series, and if this is any indication of what to expect in future books, I think it has a chance of becoming one of my favorite series.
