Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history - or religion.

Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice. One such is Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can Push on metals with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will.

After 20 years in the Roughs, Wax has been forced by family tragedy to return to the metropolis of Elendel. Now he must reluctantly put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs.

Sanderson/Kramer Epic Combination again!

What can I say, I havent read a book by Sanderson that I haven't liked. I also have listened to a book narrated by Kramer that I haven't really gotten into.

Was Not disappointed

Where does The Alloy of Law rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Well blended to bring the surviviors of the mistborn books together. Written well to catch the imagination. Book continues the story even though it is seen years after the new beginning of the last book "Hero of Ages".

What other book might you compare The Alloy of Law to and why?

This book and the other Mistborn trilogy in my mind compares to L. E. Modesitt, Jr.s Recluse series.

What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Michael Kramers voice is smooth and eloquent enough to keep the story interesting. His voice does not jar the ears, making the listening experience enjoyable.

Any additional comments?

A good continuation of the Mistborn series. I am hoping the next book of the series does not take to long to become part of my library.

Not as good as Era 1

Era 1 was by far my favorite series EVER. I was anticipating it to just get so much better with Era 2 and was unfortunately let down. I'm not a big westerns fan, and I didn't feel it had a strong female character for me to connect to (as I'm a woman). I also LOVE heists and mysteries and this just wasn't doing it for me. Sanderson still has a wonderful writing style and he throws in some things that keep you hanging on, and the narrator does a good job, so I think I'll read the next book... we'll see how it goes.

Kramer makes it

this is a good, relatively quick listen. one of the main characters spends much of his time picking up accents and dialects from different areas. it is great to hear it done so effortlessly throughout the book. This is a must-listen for Sanderson fans.

Great segue into the post "Mistborn" era

I really enjoyed this story and creative jump into the years after the Mistborn saga. I think that I jumped in too soon without recovering from the "Hero of Ages"

An excellent Alloy of Story telling!

Both the story writer and story tellers did an excellent job! An interesting sidebar to the mistborn series!

Mistborn Continues

Any additional comments?

I read the first three books in the Mistborn series years ago and didn't even know it continued until recently. The Alloy of Law is the fourth book in the series and picks up a few hundred years after the conclusion of book three, set in a world different from the original trilogy. Allomancy and Feruchemy are both still part of society, however we begin to see technological advances in the world that were missing from the days of the Lord Ruler (cars, guns, trains, etc.).

The book is filled with action and keeps a steady pace that kept me wanting to listen nonstop. Michael Kramer does an excellent job narrating this story (outstanding job with the character Wayne, our comic relief character) and I would recommend the book to anyone who is a fan of the Mistborn series or Sanderson's work.
