Publisher's summary

Book Four of The Sword of Truth, the series first begun in Wizard's First Rule, returns listeners to the world of Richard Cypher, a simple woods guide who never dreamed he would be named the Seeker of Truth and become caught up in magic, war, and dangers so extraordinary that the fate of his entire world would hang on his actions and decisions.

The dangerous, fanatical Imperial Order, under the leadership of the power-mad Emperor Jagang and his multitude of demonic underlings, unleashes a deadly plague. To find a cure, Richard Cypher and his beloved Kahlan Amnell must seek out the legendary Temple of the Winds, a fortress of evil sealed away for 3,000 years. But the path of the Seeker of Truth is never an easy one - even if he can reach the Temple at all, there is no guarantee he'll ever return.

Epic edge: listen to more in the Sword of Truth series.

Best of the series!

I’ve loved each of the previous Sword of Truth books but this was the first to make me cry and rejoice to such an extreme! My only complaint is the mispronunciation of names. Kahlan(previously pronounced Kay-lan) is pronounced “Collin.” I was used to it after a few hours but it was frustrating at first. Other than that, it was well read.

Dick Hill ruined this book

Would you consider the audio edition of Temple of the Winds to be better than the print version?

No i don't consider the audio version better than print as the narrator ruins this book with bad reading, mispronounced names, and a lack of creativity in his reading.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the ability the characters are so simple in small ways but dynamic and relatable, not in the big scheme of things but in small things. In their value of free will, and the ability to decide things for yourself but knowing at times you have to make tough decisions.

How could the performance have been better?

Tell him to talk to the author and figure out how to pronounce the names.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No it wasn't but not because of the story, I couldn't tolerate the narrator longer than an hour or so at a time.

Reader horrible painfully but story is awesome

What didn’t you like about Dick Hill’s performance?

Bland, can't tell what character he is reading. Horrible Reader compared to previous books in series. Continually Mis- pronounces main character name like Kahlan

Narrator sucks

Enthusiasm is great but the names he gives people is annoying. Hasn't he listened to any of the other ones?

Consistency?

How about keeping a reader? And why in the blue blazes change the pronunciation of character names. Took me three chapters to fingered out kaylyne was now Colin (spoken not actual characters spelling)

Other than that another great book.

Good series but different narrators for each book is disappointing.

Only giving four out of five stars is not a mark against the narrator Dick Hill.

The narrator is awful.

I can't believe this person did not pronounce the names the same as all the other books. It really very nearly ruined the whole audio

Riveting (change in pronunciations aside)

I don't know how the author intended character names/places to be pronounced. But when 3 different narrators all pronounce everything the same way in the first 3 books, it's rather disorienting when the narrator of the 4th book changes pronunciations. Other than that, the book was riveting!

I'm a little tired of it at this point.

The narrator mispronounces darn near every name in the book. His voice is pleasant enough, but this is massively distracting after the first three books where everything was pronounced correctly.

The story is getting a little tired. I am realizing, reflecting on this series, the constant rape, threat of rate, and discussion of rape is way overboard. It's too much to handle mentally and if I have to hear one more rape scene while sitting in traffic, I'm going to lose my mind. I'm sorry Terry. You have some good bones to your stories but this is getting to be a bit much.
