After years of civil war, the Separatists have battered the already faltering Republic nearly to the point of collapse. On Coruscant, the Senate watches anxiously as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine aggressively strips away more and more constitutional liberties in the name of safeguarding the Republic. Yoda, Mace Windu, and their fellow Masters grapple with the Chancellor's disturbing move to assume control of the Jedi Council. And Anakin Skywalker, the prophesied Chosen One, destined to bring balance to the Force, is increasingly consumed by his fear that his secret love, Senator Padme Amidala, will die.
As the combat escalates across the galaxy, the stage is set for an explosive endgame: Obi-Wan undertakes a perilous mission to destroy the dreaded Separatist military leader General Grievous. Palpatine, eager to secure even greater control, subtly influences public opinion to turn against the Jedi. And a conflicted Anakin, tormented by unspeakable visions, edges dangerously closer to the brink of a galaxy-shaping decision. It remains only for Darth Sidious, whose shadow looms ever larger, to strike the final staggering blow against the Republic, and to ordain a fearsome new Sith Lord: Darth Vader.

"The perfect companion to the blockbuster film." (Publishers Weekly)
I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I have seen all 6 movies several times. I was looking into Star Wars books telling stories not told in the movies, but except for a couple of them, all Star Wars books available as audiobooks are abridged versions. I know you lose lots of the details in these versions, so out of curiosity I bought this one, even though I had already seen the movie. I was very surprised with the quality of the narration, and the quality of the story as well. The book adds lots of insights and details that would've been impossible to include in a 2 hr movie. Special effects are good, but nowhere excessive, and actually help in visualizing the story. Overall, I'm very happy I bought it!
""Impressive! Most Impressive!""
Any Star Wars fan will know, the title of this review is a quote from 'The Empire Strikes Back', spoken by Darth Vader during his first battle with Luke Skywalker. \"Impressive\" just doesn't do this book justice though, it is utterly superb.
The Jedi battle with Dooku on the separatist flagship, the deepening darkness on Coruscant and in The Republic, the rising fear within Anakin Skywalker, the twisted inner-workings of the minds of Count Dooku, Darth Sidious, and General Grievous....All these things (and more) feed your imagination, and open-up the Star Wars Universe, like never before.
On top of this, the narration is masterful, almost an art, which brings the story to life in such a way, you could almost be there.
Amazing book, and well worth buying. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and wil do so again, I have no doubt of that :-)
"Better than the movie!"
If the movie contained more of this book's content it would be so much better, explains Anakin's decent to the dark side much better.
"not that good"
could be better poor story very disjointed some of the voices could be better too
"The Force is strong with this one
Wow, just wow! I've always enjoyed Revenge of the Sith the movie, but the book is so much better. I can't believe I've left it this long to read/listen to the book.
there is so much more depth, story and character development than any of the film's.
understanding Anakins struggles, helps to understand the character so much better. His Loves, his hates and his fears really help you see why he eventually turns to the Dark Side, why he becomes Vader.
however the best character in the story has to be Palpatine. How he manipulates Anakin to join him is just brilliant.
Vader might be the most iconic villian in the universe, but Palpatine certainly is the most iconic manipulator in the universe. You just love to hate him, he's creepy, dark and sheer evil, but you can't deny.. he's got style.
Regarding there narrator Jonathan Davis is fantastic. The way he perfectly falls into each character is flawless.
I've listen to few narrators now and Davis is certainly one of the best. Just ashame he doesn't read for The Force Awakens, Mark was diabolical.
"Well worth a listen"
Gives much more depth and understanding to some of the weaker parts of the film
brilliant gives a deeper side to what you see on screen well worth it fantastic .....
Jonathan Davis is at the top of his game in this book. And what a book! Far more imaginitive than the other prequel books, this kept me gripped as the pacing and tension are handled superbly. At times it was more gripping than the film as we listen to Anakin unravel via a series of mistakes on all sides. It highlights how much the Jedi are to blame much better than anything else.
A great listen I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook-I am now a professional listener!
"Adds a lot to the story."
Here, there is room to expand on the story and the characters, and it is done with panache.
Excellently written and performed.
"The best saga ever just got better"
I love Star Wars. I do a podcast on it! I love the prequels but after listening to this I love episode 3 even more. The relationship between Anakin and Palpatine, Anakin and Obi Wan, Anakin and Padme are so in depth and emotional it makes you look at the movie through different eyes.
