The Voice acting is epic

I love how this story was told with superb voice acting and music and sound effects. It felt like I was in a Star Wars movie.

Sheds new light on Episode 1

To keep this as short as possible and without spoiling anything:

Shedding new light on Episode 1 and on Darth Sidious, Daniel Davis delivers a story that makes the first prequel film worth the strain to watch because of what it sets up.

Daniel Davis' performance was nothing short of impressive. Between the two greats (Marc Thompson and Johnathan Davis), Daniel holds his own and carries the weight of story with a natural ease. This man belongs in more Star Wars novels after this.
All things considered, A must read for Star Wars fans

Great framework for the prequels

Overall great narration and storytelling. This book provides a framework for the prequels and in my opinion makes them better. A must read if you wish to understand all of the behind the scenes dealings in the star wars universe.

GREAT book

This was a fantastic edition to the Star Wars story line. Unfortunately I learned after the fact that this book is non canonical which is extremely unfortunate. Without giving too much away, it made me want to watch The Phantom Menace again and for once it made sense.

Adds Incredible Depth to Episode I

This book was a great listen. It's an incredible world-building story, and adds so much depth to Palpatine. Despite knowing how the story ends in the movies, seeing the backstory unfold was a blast.

I personally was not a huge fan of Daniel Davis. He has an amazing voice for Plagueis, and to a lesser extent for Palpatine, but his character impressions needed more variety. I would have preferred another narration by Marc Thomson, simply because Thomson creates such a variety of character voices.

marvelous book

so I'm in love. decided to get this book, and I do not regret it. the sound effect and story was so well sync that I felt immerse in every sense of the word. great listen, definitely worth the price. those lightsaber fights felt real.

Can’t wait for this to become a motion picture!!It will be awesome to see the assassination attempt played out on screen!

So great, it makes Episode 1 good

This was amazing and actually makes me want to go back and rewatch Episode 1 (though I might fast forward through an hour or so of it) because it is given so much deep context with this political and action thriller. The voice acting was a master class, the sound design was top notch and immersive. Altogether, this was peak Star Wars told deliciously from the dark side of the Force.

A story perfectly told.

a great story describing the rise of Emperor Palpatine. I enjoyed how the author messed the story directly into the Phantom Menace. Outstanding story line.

Recommend to any Star Wars fan

My favorite star book hands down! I would definitely recommend this to anyone! I just wish there was a sequel to this book about Palpatine in his early days as supreme chancellor
