Publisher's summary

Han Solo and Leia Organa take center stage, and stunning revelations from the past play a critical role in shaping the future, as the New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Star by Star now turns to a crucial chapter in the classic Star Wars saga.

The deaths of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, and victory at the Battle of Endor by no means spelled the end of the Empire. In the aftermath, the New Republic has faced a constant struggle to survive and grow. And now a new threat looms: a masterpiece of Alderaanian art—lost in transit after the planet’s destruction—has resurfaced on the black market. Offered at auction, it will command a handsome price . . . but its greatest value lies in the vital secret it conceals—the key to a code used to communicate with New Republic agents deep undercover within the Empire. Discovery of the key by Imperial forces would spell certain disaster. The only option is recovery—and Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and C-3PO have been dispatched to Tatooine to infiltrate the auction.

But trouble is waiting when they arrive: an Imperial Star Destroyer is orbiting Tatooine on the lookout for Rebels; a mysterious stranger at the auction seems to recognize Leia; and an Imperial officer’s aggressive bidding for the Alderaanian painting could foil the Solos’ mission. When a dispute erupts into violence, and the painting vanishes in the chaos, Han and Leia are thrust into a desperate race to reclaim it—before Imperial troops or a band of unsavory treasure-peddlers get there first.

Dangerous as the chase is, for Leia it leads into especially dark territory. Already haunted by the specter of her infamous father, and fearful that his evil may infect future generations, she has suffered a disturbing Force-vision of Luke turning to the dark side. As she battles beside Han against marauding TIE fighters, encroaching stormtroopers, and Tatooine’s savage Tusken Raiders, Leia’s struggle with the warring emotions inside her culminates in the discovery of an extraordinary link to the past. And as long-buried secrets and truths at last emerge, she faces a moment of reckoning that will forever alter her destiny . . . and that of the New Republic.

"What more could a Star Wars fan desire? Reader Jonathan Davis is a very good narrator....he also slides into alien and other characters with right-on characterization." (AudioFile)

Good, but would love an unabridged version.

Another stronge narration by Jonathan Davis. As the title states, I would have loved a unabridged version as I can't help but feel there are large chunks of the story missing.

Not too bad, but it is abridged...

All in all, this was a fairly decent audiobook. Nothing spectacular, but something to pass the time. I subtracted one star because this was just an average book. I took a second star away because it was abridged. Abridging generally ruins books. If this one had been fully intact, it might have been worth 5 stars.

Not bad for abridged

I really really hate abridged audiobooks but audible seems to make this mandatory with most of the star wars series.....I keep asking and I suppose only the new cannon is gonna be unabridged. Sadly I think the storyline is much better in the older books. this one is particularly good even though it is abridged it fleshes out some more of the details of life on Tatooine for those of us who want to know everything about Anakin's backstory. a satisfying read. Hey audible, if you release the unabridged version I sure would like to relisten to this one.

Tatooine Ghost

Tatooine Ghost takes Leia on a very important journey, and does it in great style as only Troy Denning can. Han and Leia are newlywed and are heading towards Tatooine to get a very special painting. Killik Twilight. Fun shenanigans ensue. When Leia recovers her Grandmother’s journal she begins to accept that while she is Bail’s daughter she just might be Shmi Skywalker’s granddaughter.

PS Disney please release unabridged versions of more Legends. I can only see more $$$$ for you.

Wish us wasn’t abridged

It’s a good story, Jonathan Davis is amazing again. Just wish it was longer.

Believe in the Future.

Very nice presentation!

A huge thanks to the production staff. The narrator was great! He had some of the voices near spot on with the original actors. I had been struggling to get past a certain point of this book in paperback, but being able to listen to it while I worked REALLY helped the workday fly by much faster than without it! I especially enjoyed the reading of the entries from Shmi Skywalker's diary to Anakin! I didn't remember in which book those journals we're included, and was pleasantly surprised to hear them here! Thanks to all!

An Almost Perfect Novel

Very underated novel. I only wish it would have been unabridged but overall fantastic.

C Plus for T Ghost

Tatooine Ghost is a great book for filling in gaps within the previous books. However, the action sequences are somewhat vague and short. The overall plot is somewhat anti-climantic, but easy to follow. Not really a necessary book to read if you are reading the series in chronological order.

Boring and forgettable.

This is one Star Wars book that could be completely ignored. The main story is about a stolen painting. It’s uninteresting. The real allure is in Leia’s discovery of her family history. It’s great to see her react to her grandmother and fathers story, but that’s not enough to carry the full 6 hours. Go ahead and read a synopsis instead of listening to this.
