Publisher's summary

The new novel in the New York Times best-selling Dresden Files series.

No one's tried to kill Harry Dresden for almost an entire year, and his life finally seems to be calming down. For once, the future looks fairly bright. But the past casts one hell of a long shadow.

An old bargain has placed Harry in debt to Mab, monarch of the Winter Court of the Sidhe, the Queen of Air and Darkness - and she's calling in her marker. It's a small favor he can't refuse, one that will trap Harry Dresden between a nightmarish foe and an equally deadly ally, and one that will strain his skills-and loyalties-to their very limits.

It figures. Everything was going too well to last....

Critic reviews

“Superlative.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

“Butcher...spins an excellent noirish detective yarn in a well-crafted, supernaturally-charged setting. The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry’s wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot.” (Booklist, starred review)

“A tricky plot complete with against-the-clock pacing, firefights, explosions, and plenty of magic. Longtime series fans as well as newcomers drawn by the SciFi Channel’s TV series based on the novels should find this supernatural mystery a real winner.” (Library Journal)

Love The Dresden Files

Every new book is full of adventure, magic, and the best snark. I wish the tv show was still on.

Excellent

Would you consider the audio edition of Small Favor to be better than the print version?

It is at least equal. I don't know that I can say that it's better since it's the same book and disobeying anything in print is always an adventure in imagination.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The denarians wow me every time.

Have you listened to any of James Marsters’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have several other dresden files.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. I laughed many many times.

my favorite so far

I believe this is my favorite book and audiobook in the series. The characters all have a richness that has taken the series to develop and Marsters' storytelling is captivating.

The various voices and character that James Marsters puts into his narration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Harry...enough said...wise cracks, movie references...and all-around complete character with flaws and heroics...

Which character – as performed by James Marsters – was your favorite?

Sanya..love the Russian Accent by Marsters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, but I didn't have enough time in one sitting, so I had to make it two...:)

Very nice

Excellent narration and the flow of the story is very good. Only problem is that a certain part of the narration is missing, when they are in the safe house and the Denarian reveals her face. I had to find a copy of the book online to read what was missing and it was quite a bit of dialogue.

Stars and Stones, I just can't stop!!

The Dresden Files started off as an entertaining series off books I used to kill time between finding something to read. STARS AND STONES, the series is long enough!! It has evolved into something much more than that. The story and writing has progressively improved with each new addition and I find Harry and his cohorts lingering in my head long after the headphones come off. Small Favor was no exception to the rule and kept me listening and even laughing out loud well past my bed time. James Marsters does an absolutely superb job as Harry as well as the rest of the cast. Some of the voices just crack me up, in this one the donkey laugh of the eldest brother gruff had my daughter and I rewinding and laughing ourselves silly multiple times. So ridiculous!! Lol. The Dresden Files is simply a well done all around series that continues to deliver. Suspense, drama, laughs and just plain old great entertainment with every book. If you enjoy urban fantasy, do yourself a favor and pick these up and stick with them. It takes a few books for the author to really hit his stride but once there the series takes off and soars!!! Turn Coat here I come......

Marsters for the win

I never used to listen to audiobooks, I prefer to read. However, I recently moved across country and figured listening to a book would be wonderful. After listening to the first three books on my trip, I decided the stories would not be the same without James Marsters narrating! He fully embodies the characters and as far as I'm concerned he IS Harry Dresden. I love his work and will finish listening to the books under his narration.
