Publisher's summary

Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, is about to have a very bad day.…

Because as Winter Knight to the Queen of Air and Darkness, Harry never knows what the scheming Mab might want him to do. Usually, it’s something awful.

He doesn’t know the half of it.…

Mab has just traded Harry's skills to pay off one of her debts. And now he must help a group of supernatural villains - led by one of Harry's most dreaded and despised enemies, Nicodemus Archleone - to break into the highest-security vault in town, so that they can then access the highest-security vault in the Nevernever.

It's a smash-and-grab job to recover the literal Holy Grail from the vaults of the greatest treasure hoard in the supernatural world - which belongs to the one and only Hades, Lord of the freaking Underworld and generally unpleasant character. Worse, Dresden suspects that there is another game afoot that no one is talking about. And he's dead certain that Nicodemus has no intention of allowing any of his crew to survive the experience. Especially Harry.

Dresden's always been tricky, but he's going to have to up his backstabbing game to survive this mess - assuming his own allies don’t end up killing him before his enemies get the chance.…

Another masterpiece in the Dresden files. I'd say his finest book to date. Totally worth a read.

Get ready to be hit in the "feels"

First off... James Marsters is back! YES! It just wasn't Dresden without him. He does an amazing jobs giving all the different characters voice. I would re-buy book 14 if he would narrate it.

For the book... Wow. There were times I sat there listening, my hands clenched together in front of my face. And I would cringe. There are moments in this book that just make you FEEL. You'll know what I'm talking about when you get there. And it's worth it. My husband listened to the book before I did, and he sat there staring at me as I listened. And when THAT PART came on... Yikes. Once it was over, I paused the book and said ".... ouch....". He says, "... yeah."

Then I dove back in headfirst for the ride.

If you're this far into the Dresden Files series.. you are going to get this book. Luckily, it's awesome as usual. But ouch, my feels....

So many feels...

Great levels of tension

Harry Dresden has a real talent for getting himself into trouble. and picturing him worm his way back out of it through planning, power, or just plain luck never ceases to be enjoyable.

Nicodemus truly is a vile villian and is easily hatable, but the story does a great job giving insight into his motivations. It was really entertaining seeing him operate and learn how he goes about his business.

Overall I really enjoyed this volume in the series and I can't wait for the next one.
