Book two in the magnificent Empire Trilogy by best-selling authors Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts.
Nobody knows how to play the Game of the Council better than Mara of the Acoma. Through bloody political manoeuvring she has become a powerful force within the Empire; but surrounded by deadly rivals, Mara has to be the best simply to stay alive. But Lady Mara must contend with battles on two fronts: in the hotbed of intrigue and treachery that is the court of Tsurani; and in her heart, where her affection for a barbarian slave from the enemy world of Midkemia leads her to question the principles by which she lives.
Servant of the Empire is the second in Feist and Wurts' wonderful epic trilogy - one of the most successful fantasy collaborations of all time. The trilogy concludes with the third book, Mistress of the Empire.

Loved everything. Story is gripping and decades later still relevant. Can't imagine anybody reading better, no performing better. Result is stunning.
"I listened every spare minute"
loved the rift war books and the fact that I am so empathetic to the surani now with this trilogy - amazing story craft Ray and Janny!!!!!! Great to have a female fantasy hero for a change.
"Heavy going political story"
I started this series with Magician which I enjoyed. However, this Empire series is more about politics in a weird society than the fantasy that first drew me in. I found it heavy going and difficult to keep track of all the clans and characters. Not my favourite audio book.
Very good and well read, the saga is just as good as the magician opening three.
Look forward to next
Love this book! Brilliant story keeps you captivated from the first chapter. A must read.
"Great story, can't wait to start the next book."
this author is new to me and by my husband insistance I've listen to Magician and got hooked. Few days later got the nest book and so on. 👍👍👍
"A wonderful book"
I had forgotten how good this trilogy is. It is one of the few books that really made me choke up at the end - wont tell you if it was for a happy or sad reason, wouldn't want to spoil it! But this is a fantastically believable set of characters, so beautifully read that you really feel for so many of them. And yet the book is so long and complex that it really needs more than one read!
The final meeting in the council chamber, and not knowing who will win or how, but hoping it will all come together.
I loved the way she expressed the emotions of the characters whilst still keeping the sense of their "honorable" detachment from noticeable feelings.
Yes, as above, one of the few books to have made me feel so emotional at the end.
Please audible, bring out the final part of the trilogy soon, I cant wait to hear the story again!
