Publisher's summary

To make his biggest score, Han's ready to take even bigger risks.

But even he can't do this job solo.

Han Solo should be basking in his moment of glory. After all, the cocky smuggler and captain of the Millennium Falcon just played a key role in the daring raid that destroyed the Death Star and landed the first serious blow to the Empire in its war against the Rebel Alliance. But after losing the reward his heroics earned him, Han's got nothing to celebrate. Especially since he's deep in debt to the ruthless crime lord Jabba the Hutt. There's a bounty on Han's head - and if he can't cough up the credits, he'll surely pay with his hide. The only thing that can save him is a king's ransom. Or maybe a gangster's fortune?

That's what a mysterious stranger is offering in exchange for Han's less-than-legal help with a riskier-than-usual caper. The payoff will be more than enough for Han to settle up with Jabba - and ensure he never has to haggle with the Hutts again.

All he has to do is infiltrate the ultra-fortified stronghold of a Black Sun crime syndicate underboss and crack the galaxy's most notoriously impregnable safe. It sounds like a job for miracle workers...or madmen. So Han assembles a gallery of rogues who are a little of both - including his indispensable sidekick Chewbacca and the cunning Lando Calrissian. If anyone can dodge, deceive, and defeat heavily armed thugs, killer droids, and Imperial agents alike - and pull off the heist of the century - it's Solo's scoundrels. But will their crime really pay, or will it cost them the ultimate price?

Zahn and Thompson great as ever

I enjoyed the story, the setup, the characterization and performance a lot. Fun twists at the end. It reminded me of a mix of Usual Suspects and Oceans 11.

Star Wars: Scoundrels

What did you like best about this story?

Star Wars: Scoundrels is one of my new favorite audiobooks. I've never read or listened to any Expanded Universe stories before, even though I'm a big Star Wars fan, so this was a new adventure for me. And I'm really glad I decided to check this out when I was looking for something light and fun to listen to.

The story is not even very original, but it's still pretty cool. It's a heist story starring Han Solo, Chewbacca and Lando. They've assembled a team to pull off a big con job. It's sort of like Ocean's 11 in a galaxy far, far away. It's set between Episodes IV & V, so there are references to Luke, Leia and some of the other characters. The story still has a lot of action and a few twists that really kept me intrigued.

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

I also really enjoyed Marc Thompson's performance and all the sound effects. It really brought me into the Star Wars universe. Marc's take on Han and Lando were especially great!

Good if simple story

This a good bridge story that feels a bit stretched out. Marc Thompson is solid as always and the story is entertaining though I think it could be 1/2 the length.

Great to listen to

What made the experience of listening to Scoundrels: Star Wars the most enjoyable?

Marc Thompson's narration is outstanding. He continues to make a large cast of characters distinguishable. You know who Han or Lando or any other character immediately by just the voice.

What other book might you compare Scoundrels: Star Wars to and why?

It fairs favorably to the Heir to the Empire series. The story itself is not as encompassing as that series but you get a good feel for the Star Wars universe.

Felt like a Star Wars version of Ocean's Eleven!

Would you listen to Scoundrels: Star Wars again? Why?

Maybe - was a pretty solid story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bink - quite spunky!

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

Excellent job by Marc. Voices were spot on - and felt like you were listening to the audio of the actual actors.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened while in the car and at the gym - as often as I could - it did keep me coming back.

Any additional comments?

Overall - a solid story. Felt a lot like Ocean's 11 with Han playing Danny Ocean - and so forth. Parts were predictable - and parts were not - all in all - solid!
