Publisher's summary

Book two in the stunning conclusion to Frank Herbert's worldwide best-selling Dune Chronicles

At the end of Frank Herbert's final novel, Chapterhouse: Dune, a ship carrying a crew of refugees escapes into the uncharted galaxy, fleeing from a terrifying, mysterious Enemy. The fugitives used genetic technology to revive key figures from Dune's past - including Paul Muad'Dib and Lady Jessica - to use their special talents to meet the challenges thrown at them.

Based directly on Frank Herbert's final outline, which lay hidden in two safe-deposit boxes for a decade, Sandworms of Dune will answer the urgent questions Dune fans have been debating for two decades: the origin of the Honored Matres, the tantalizing future of the planet Arrakis, the final revelation of the Kwisatz Haderach, and the resolution to the war between Man and Machine. This breathtaking new novel in Frank Herbert's Dune series has enough surprises and plot twists to please even the most demanding listener.

A fitting end to a 15,000 year saga

I had my doubts that the story could be wrapped up, but I believe the authors did Frank Herbert justice.
I’ve only given five stars to two of the previous books (Dune and Children of Dune) and this one makes three.

Not Dune

This is the best of the Brian Herbert/Kevin Anderson Dune continuation collaborations. Unfortunately, you'd have to read/listen to several of the other books to understand the setting and the story, not to mention the characters. Your listening time and money would be better spent on the original Dune books written by Frank Herbert.

an unexpected turn of events.

this ending of the series seemed to be dependent more in the two prequel trilogy sets than the events of the original series. had I not read them I would have been lost as an original fan of dune. not a bad thing only different. do your self the service of reading the house trilogy and butlerian trilogy first

A good listen for Dune fans

Would you listen to Sandworms of Dune again? Why?

The story needs to be listened to a couple of times at least just to absorb the content. There are details that become clearer after listening again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I guess it’s an ending

This book and the previous had me shaking my head.

The Core archetype of the characters completely changed. For example Reverend mothers no longer seem to have access to their entire history and could not control their emotions, or read body language. Also mentats no longer could predict or even understand plots.

love the Dune books!

I love the dune books. Nice conclusion to a long book series. Just enjoy it for what it is and don't over process it.

good, but odd pauses in the narration

Some of the chapter titles and following sentences seem to run together. otherwise it's great.

Awesome

This book was a decades long culmination of AWESOME. Takes me back to the intrigue I first had with Frank Herbert and finishes strong.

didn't think I would love it

I didn't know how I was gonna like the series being written by someone else and it took me a while to give them a chance but I really enjoyed the last 2 books and the last few moments of the book were perfect.
