Publisher's summary

Bestselling author Terry Goodkind's epic Sword of Truth series continues with the next stunning installment, Phantom.

On the day she awoke remembering nothing but her name, Kahlan Amnell became the most dangerous woman alive. For everyone else, that was the day that the world began to end.

As her husband, Richard, desperately searches for his beloved, whom only he remembers, he knows that if she doesn't soon discover who she really is, she will unwittingly become the instrument that will unleash annihilation. But Kahlan learns that if she ever were to unlock the truth of her lost identity, then evil itself would finally possess her, body and soul.

If she is to survive in a murky world of deception and betrayal, where life is not only cheap but fleeting, Kahlan must find out why she is such a central figure in the war-torn world swirling around her. What she uncovers are secrets darker than she could ever have imagined.

Epic edge: listen to more in the Chainfire Trilogy and the swordtruth series.

Refreshing

Even though these books seem to drag at times, they leave no questions unanswered as to why any course of action is taken. Thr focus on the strength of the individual, liberty, and independent thought is truly refreshing when most new books of any kind force some collective ideology on us. it fits the character and the goal of the story fighting tyranny that makes promises and claims but behaves in opposition to those promises and claims. if you don't start at book one you will be lost.

The narrator has a very annoying sh/ch whistle

I love this story, one of my favorites. The narrator is decent, and gives the story excitement and a richer detail with his storytelling abilities but OHMYGOODNESS that whistle is so annoying. No matter the volume level it’s present.

Entertaining, excellent plots.

Throughout this book curtains Are being pulled back to show us just how the characters are discovering their roles and what the word of life is all about and that their struggle is real but that love and friendship gets them everything that they need and that depending on one another is the ultimate goal To get through this storyline.

Great Narration

This book was so much more enjoyable because the narrator was excellent. I also thought that there was less repetition in this book then in past books.

Thank the spirits for Sam Tsoutsouvas!!

Great decision to bring back Sam Tsoutsouvas. The series suffered with the dry toast narrators after Wizard’s First Rule where Sam was the first narrator. His performance is dynamic and peerless. The best narrator of any audio series I’ve listened to.

Why was Richard portrayed as angry all the time?

I love the story and love this book. The only thing I thought a little odd was the fact that the narrator seems to depict Richard as blatantly angry at times that I hadn't necessarily thought he was angry. You can say things in an angered way without shouting or screaming...

Remember to set a sleep timer if you listen while you sleep otherwise you'll get woken up to the narrator screaming some bloody murder at the top of his lungs and it'll scare you to death.. Good narration though and lively performance.

Thank you again Terry Goodkind for delivering a spot on world and filling in more of my desperate questions.

Very Good Multi-Book Sci-Fi Fantasy MUST HAVE

What made the experience of listening to Phantom the most enjoyable?

This is the 10th Book out of the 11+ book Story of the Seeker which is a great Story which is an Addictive Original Story. If you like Sci-Fi Fantansy with Magic and the like; This series is a MUST HAVE starting with The Wizard's First Rule, The Sword of Truth. There is a TV series of which both are good.
Terry Goodkind is a great writer with original writing, he may be a little long winded but is well worth every penny and or credit.

I like these type of books and always have but this is one of my favorite of all-time. I am 40 years of age and Love Jim Butcher's Dresden File, Love Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles and this ranks right up there with them.

I totally Recomend All of Terry Goodkind's Books, I think Book 2 or 3 is the one where the narrarator messed up the names and pronounced everything wrong and made a mess out the Audio book but it was still a good story, Thank goodness they corrected this mistake on the next book.
This is a must have to any self respecting Sci-Fi Fantasy Reader/Listener.
Terry Goodkind is a master story teller!

What other book might you compare Phantom to and why?

There is no comparison!

What does Sam Tsoutsouvas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is a Very Good Narrarator in which a bad one can screw the whole thing up. No problem with this guy.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and Almost did!

Any additional comments?

Mr. Goodkind is a bit long winded but kicks butt with a Great Story and characters you learn to Love.
