Magic, danger, and adventure abound for messenger Karigan G'ladheon in the fifth book in Kristen Britain's New York Times-bestselling Green Rider fantasy series

Karigan G’ladheon is a Green Rider—a seasoned member of the elite messenger corps of King Zachary of Sacoridia. King Zachary sends Karigan and a contingent of Sacoridians beyond the edges of his nation, into the mysterious Blackveil Forest, which has been tainted with dark magic by a twisted immortal spirit named Mornhavon the Black.

In a magical confrontation against Mornhavon, Karigan is jolted out of Blackveil Forest and wakes in darkness. She’s lying on smooth, cold stone, but as she reaches out, she realizes that the stone is not just beneath her, but above and around her as well. She’s landed in a sealed stone sarcophagus, some unknown tomb, and the air is becoming thin.

Is this to be her end? If she escapes, where will she find herself? Is she still in the world she remembers, or has the magical explosion transported her somewhere completely different? To find out, she must first win free of her prison—before it becomes her grave. And should she succeed, will she be walking straight into a trap created by Mornhavon himself?

Not the best in the series

There's too much sex for my taste. I had to just sort of plow through this one, as much as I like Karigan, the story seemed to lacking a bit of it's usual feel with the other important characters sidelined for almost the entire book.

This is a captivating story!

Compelling performance and captivating story yields hours of listening which teleport you to a magic realm out of sync with the rest of the riders you know, in a way.

Ms. Britain does it again!

I'd been waiting in anticipation for this book and I was not disappointed. I decided to re-read/listen to the first four books and then listen to Mirror Sight vs. reading it for the first time. Ellen Archer did a great job keeping the voices consistent throughout the series and developing new ones. There's nothing like hearing Fastion and Yolanthi (sp) speak in the latter chapters. Ellen did a great job with bringing the described voices to life.

I was surprised as I started listening to what time frame she had decided to use but it makes sense given Karigan's previous time travel. I was pleasantly surprised that she was able to keep the various story lines going and intertwined.

I could see how Karigan has matured from her headstrong, naive and clumsy younger self to the considering, and (at times) more level headed young adult she is. I still found myself wanting to shake her to just do what she told but it wouldn't be Karigan if she was so obedient.

I also liked how Ms. Britain explored how some of the characters weren't simply just bad or good but had many sides to them. The writing and character development has matured and evolved right alongside Karigan :)

The ending definitely leaves enough unanswered questions for Book 6 but I'm sad to think that it will be a few years before the next book is done. It was great to see some familiar characters in unexpected places and I look forward to Karigan's next challenge. I highly recommend this book to Green Rider fans.

True fans will love

I have been a fan of this series for 10 years when I first took a chance on Green Rider at the book store. It was my favorite book and I still enjoy it! I read some bad reviews about Mirror Sight. To the contrary, I think this one is very well written and thought out. It took a lot of imagination to make this book. If you are a true fan of Green Rider, you will love this book as much as I did.

6 stars

I gave the previous story 4 stars. This one deserves 6. The last paragraph was worth the journey. My only caveat is that as anyone who has stormed a castle to rescue the princess knows, it usually takes a lot of luck or help from the author to overcome the odds. Whereas some thought this was the weaker book, I thought it was better. Perhaps all of us are noting that it seems like a stand-alone story a bit disconnected from the series as a whole. I did get a Star Trekkie timewarp/amnesia feeling.

Thank you Kristen Britain

If you could sum up Mirror Sight in three words, what would they be?

Exciting, Engaging, and the way things unfolded toward the end to me was Epic.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Karigan is and always will be my favorite, I'm sure. But I loved the addition of Cade's character. **SPOILERS** I am so glad that KB decided to give Karigan an achievable (albeit brief) love story with this character because I was getting very frustrated for her with the whole King Zachary situation. Of course the way things ended had me beside myself with frustration/pity for our heroine but I reluctantly respect KB's writing decisions. She is a brilliant author. I just hope it's all worth it for Karigan in the end.

Which character – as performed by Ellen Archer – was your favorite?

Sometimes I find it unbelievable that just one person is narrating this story. Her voices are so versatile! She did well making Arhys sound like the spoiled little brat she is. She made Dr. Silk an CO sound as distasteful as I feel they are. Each character sounds as described by the book. She's also done a great job keeping the characters' voices consistent throughout the series. I did wonder why F'ryan Coblebay's name is pronounced differently in this book than in all of the previous ones though.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. At the end. Heartbreaking. I think it was the first time I've teared up in this series.

Any additional comments?

Many people have said this book seems out of place in the series. I feel that it is an asset to the story because now we know just how horrendous the future will be if Sacoridia falls. It showcases that our beloved, "present timeline" characters are living at a pivotal point in history and are essentially legends in the making. I actually enjoyed the "break" from the linear story although I will certainly miss some of the "future timeline" characters. Yet we don't know what KB has up her sleeve...These books are certainly not predictable and that is a major feature that I love about them.

Mixed feelings

I have followed and enjoyed immensely this story of the green rider. Yet I find myself slightly put off by some of the extremities of violence in this last book. I haven't even finished reading the book and after the charming relationships that the characters develop with each other this has caused me to lay the book down for a time. I do look forward to the ending with sadness of course as the story comes a close. Ellen Archer of course does the most masterful work with each character including a child throwing a tantrum! Perhaps it is to her credit that I do not enjoy the evil characters!! Great work.
