Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author J. R. Ward has blown away fans with her layered, tantalizing tales of sexy vampires and supernatural intrigue. In Lover Unbound, an immortal killer falls into the care - and possibly the arms - of a mortal surgeon. Suffering a horrific childhood as the son of a Bloodletter in his father's war camp, Vishous pledges death to members of the vampire-hunting Lessening Society. Vishous knows no love. He feels no emotion. He lives only to oppose the slayers. But after suffering a mortal wound, a human surgeon named Dr. Jane Whitcomb tends to him. Her ministrations, however, extend beyond his physical injury - and before long her tender hand has awakened feelings of pleasure that Vishous never dreamed existed.

One of my favorite Brothers

What made the experience of listening to Lover Unbound, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 5 the most enjoyable?

I have read this book twice; listening to it brought an added dimension to the story and the characters.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the title character, Vishous. He is such a contradiction, at once capable of great love and simultaneously of great hatred (hence the name). As with all of the Brothers, he has a flaw that often puts him seemingly beyond hope and redemption. It's his story toward that final redemptive peace that is the hallmark of all of the BDB books...for me, his story just resonated (as with Zsadist).

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I am not a fan of Mr. Frangione and have to get past the lackluster vocals to absorb the story. I am not sure of the pronunciations of certain words and if they are from the actual author's review (e.g., shellan/hellren). His relating of the female voice leave much to be desired in intonation and cadence--this is especially true in another book to be reviewed later. It is a bit of a deterrent that Mr. Frangione is the narrator for the entire series but not so much as to keep me away from the brilliance of the stories/writing. More of a tribute to J.R. Ward.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No..I prefer to listen to the book in smaller increments and as time permits. Am not one to listen with a lot going on around me (e.g., during the day at home) but do like taking it to the gym...makes the treadmill/elliptical bearable. That being said, I do find myself setting the sleep timer for 15 minutes and re-setting it quite frequently..."just one more time".

Wonderful Series

Would you consider the audio edition of Lover Unbound, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 5 to be better than the print version?

When the Blackdagger Brotherhood was recommended to me I thought I would not J.R. Ward's Fallen Angels series is very good. I expected it to be funnier after reading The Blackdagger Brotherhood, where the angel is hilarious.like it, based on title alone. I couldn't be more wrong! I instantly fell in love with the books!

not my fav

Although this book was not my favorite it is very crucial in the series to read it and I would give it a 4.8 stars but to me it seems a little bit too much like Other fictional stories that I've heard or movies that I have seen it doesn't get the best review for me

Terrific except for...

The narrative sucked. There were two different voices which became distracting... The story was wonderful

a Little Disappoint about Jane Ending!!!!

If you could sum up Lover Unbound, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 5 in three words, what would they be?

Insightful, Edgey, Not-Believable (Jane end part)

What other book might you compare Lover Unbound, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 5 to and why?

All the books give you "GREAT" Insight on the "Main" Charater - this is always interesting info!!!

What does Jim Frangione bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's good - Wish he could get a bit more "into" Charater

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Kinky Strong Man finds Match Lover

Any additional comments?

Just that I was sort of disappointed about the "Jane" ending - I mean "really"???? Coming back as a ghost that people can walk thru = so "not" believable nor the Writer Forte'

Need different narrator

I read this book previously and really enjoyed the book but this terrible narrator made it difficult to enjoy.

Im completely invested! I love how JR Ward has given each of the brothers their own story! it's so amazing!!!!! I can already see this is going to be an expensive habit!!

Such sadness and they overwhelming happiness.

This is Vishous and Jane's storyline. Vishous has finally found a mate and she is a human and a surgeon. John has found his manhood. So many storylines intersect in this book. You always meet other members of the Brotherhood in this authors books. Great narration too.
