Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author J. R. Ward has blown away fans with her layered, tantalizing tales of sexy vampires and supernatural intrigue. In Lover Unbound, an immortal killer falls into the care - and possibly the arms - of a mortal surgeon. Suffering a horrific childhood as the son of a Bloodletter in his father's war camp, Vishous pledges death to members of the vampire-hunting Lessening Society. Vishous knows no love. He feels no emotion. He lives only to oppose the slayers. But after suffering a mortal wound, a human surgeon named Dr. Jane Whitcomb tends to him. Her ministrations, however, extend beyond his physical injury - and before long her tender hand has awakened feelings of pleasure that Vishous never dreamed existed.

Excellent and Unabridged!!!

Narrated perfectly! This guy does the story justice. I’ve recently passed on all of my hard copies to someone who is now a fan of this author. Lovigg my in a tiny house, audible makes room for hundreds of books. This guy reads with appropriate emotion without taking it to a gross or creepy level. I’m entirely impressed. Will be purchasing the rest of them. Started with this one as it is my favorite. Highly highly recommend! These books are adult material however. They are extremely explicit. Not for children or adolescents. This isn’t twilight. These books are just about as x-rated as books can be whilst still having a a killer plot. (Pun intended) Happy Listening!

Vishous

Lover Unbound is Vishous’s story. An intimidating Black Dagger Brotherhood member, from his tattoos, to his size, and demeanor, Vishous is brought to his knees for a human female. Dr. Jane tames Vishous as no one else could. His history will tug on your heart strings! You won’t want to miss the last several chapters. The narrator did a fantastic job!

Raw, gut wrenching story - Loved every bit of it

Once sgain you've wrung the tears from me. Even while they still flow down my cheeks and knots tie in my belly, I'm desperate to queue up the next book in the series.

I love the characters and the perfect mix of fight, romance, hope and drama.

I love the narrator also. He's a great choice and carries the characters so well you forget it's one person. What a great partnership.

J.R. Ward must be a genius to create this entire world of honorable vampires. Can't get enough of these books!

Another Winner

There is so much action and suspense in this book. Vishnu’s is one of my favorite characters. I love the names of the brotherhood members. Hope Torrent shows up one day. This book made me emotional; it touched on some deep topics. The narrator continues to do a good job; this has to be hard for Jim when you have so many different situations going on. On to the next book!

Being the bloodletters son says it all...

This is the 5th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The series is darkly emotional and extremely erotic and sexual. I really love this series and its twist on vampires but you have to take the brothers as you get them which is not always pleasant! I get the feeling that some of the other reviewers had no history from reading the first 4 books and read this book on its own. In this books case it would be hard to understand and like on its own. This book is about Vishous and Jane and their story together. Vishous is a pretty messed up male. You learn alot about his upbringing in this book which helps you undertand why he is the way he is. It is about control and giving it up and learning to trust another. Though Vishous might have bisexual tendencies from his upbringing you realize he has confused his love of Butch for something else. Since Butch is the first person he has had feelings for in 300 years this is understandable. This isn't my favorite of the BDB books but still an excellent story even if I cringe some in parts! JR Ward is an excellent author and I like the narrator as he has a very masculine voice. He has done all of the books. His inflections don't change much between person to person though, especially with the females.
Don't skip this book as like all the other books there are alot of other sub-stories going on and you are introduced to characters that will play important roles in the 6th book. Also, don't listen to this book without starting at the beginning of the series as they are all on audible now.

Ahhhhh

I have to say that Vishous is probably my favorite. I do love them all but for some reason he is my pick. It's such a treat to re-visit this series. It is one to put in your library and keep coming back to. I do believe this is the top paranormal series ever written and I love every addition to this amazing story.

Choices and sacrifices

Vishous and Jane's story. Our hard core Brother, son of the Bloodletter, finally finds what he has been unknowingly searching for. With Doc Jane he truly feels for the first time and can now release the pain he has been harboring inside. The stark and cold animosity he has toward his mother can finally be put to rest. This is s story of fierce loyalty, hard sacrifices and painful choices.
