Cant wait for the next book!

So I recently finished the last published book in the series and i am still hungry for more. The story closely resembles another series a gratly enjoyed " The Lost Regiment". I like the dynamic between the main characters and also the flow of the book was very smooth, never realy felt lost while reading this series. I love the British guy who is always talking about the animals and plants on the new world, what a fun character. The only rip I have on this series now that I have finished book nine is that there were sevral parts that were just plain slow or unneeded. Love the series as a whole and cant wait for the next book which I think comes out in the summer of 2013.

I want longer books!

Great book. It advanced the story and had some great action scenes. As always, William Dufris did a great job with all of the voices.

My only issue with the book is that the story has grown so much and there are so many different things going on that it felt a little abridged to me. By the time I was fully invested in one of the side stories, it would jump to another location. Hopefully he will bring some of the characters back together or start writing much longer books!

I will definitely keep following the series.

Best Series EVER!

This is the most entertaining series I have personally read/listened. Taylor Anderson's Military knowledge paints a very vivid picture. His story telling Keeps you glued to the story. And the story itself has evolved into an epic masterpiece. Its hard to read this and not fall in love with most of the characters.
The worst part of this book is that know that its over I have to wait another year or so for the next one.

Wonderful society dynamics and battle action!

This parallel earth series continues by following up on the displaced WWII Americas and Japanese in their various engagements.

Flint is trapped facing major Grik opposition in Indiaa while General Alden and others under his command try to find a way to get through to help with several different forces that have been trying to push for control of strategic land areas. Meanwhile the Grik, with the aid of the madman Japanese Commander, Kurokawa, are bringing their newly built fleet of ships and air dirigibles to attack their enemies, the Americans and their allies. Kurokawa is not giving full information to the brutal Grik as he meets secretly with other Japanese officers and plans to overthrow the Grik leadership.

The crew from USS Walker are at Respite Island with Emperor Radcliff. Matt (Captain Reddy) is preparing for his wedding to Sandra and a general celebration of the successes so far over the Dominion. The news comes in that another Allied ship has failed to defeat the Japanese POW murderers on their superior ship. Matt makes the difficult decision to take Walker, which already needs repairs, to eliminate that murderous threat once and for all. This creates a confrontation between Sandra and Matt as Sandra has to reconcile his position as extreme commander with her fears for his safety.

Imperial Commodore Jenks takes his ship, Achilles, from North America heading to the Enchanted Islands to secure the safety of those lands in the British battle against the Holy Dominion threat. The Imperial family come under attack and betrayal and treachery are revealed.

There are more personal stories of individual characters busy doing their part to help the battle or rescue other friends. I didn’t find this installment to be quite as exciting as the previous books, but the action picks up mid way and I still enjoyed the informative details of weapon and defense development. All of the action continues to reveal interesting aspects of the societies and continues the warmth of the characters working together through their hardships of war. I have Book 8 available to listen to in the near future.

Audio Notes: I am still impressed by how well Mr. Dufris infuses the personalities into the characters with the voice accents and inflections. This series is really fun listening for me.

Started slow, but it got there.

I'm starting to feel like this world is getting too big for just one series. There are many times when an event is described in detail when it really didn't contain any pertinent information other than it happened.

Back on Track

Lots of tension, good battles exciting!!! The Grik have gotten stronger!! Much stronger and have our friends up against it while Walker is away chasing down the Jap Destroyer. This book certainly shakes up the status quo of the alliance. Adar offering to leave as commander n chief, The New British Isles new leader... Its a very good book and I couldn't stop listening.

Not Really A Sci-Fi Fan But I Like This Series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The characters are all well defined, sometimes predictable, but still providing a good storyline

As I said, I have never really been a sci-fi fan, but this series has gripped my imagination. About the only downside that I have had a issue with is that in Iron Grey Sea, the audio level was a lot lower. I drive a truck for a living, so I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and books 1 thru 6 were fine, but this one was so hard to hear over the truck noise.

Another decent installment of a decent series

Hey, it's a great series to listen to while you are running down the road, and this installment is actually one of the better ones, although Anderson does tend to get bogged down in character development a little more than I care for.
He has a pretty good grasp of tactics and a great wealth of knowledge regarding seagoing minutia making the books a great listen. I keep buying them, so they have to be pretty good. I'd like to see a lot less talk and a little more action.
Mr. Dufris does a good job. Very consistent in the overall cadence and tone of the story.
If you are looking for a fun series to listen to, one not requiring any "in depth" thinking about, this is a great one, especially if you enjoy a good war story.
