Publisher's summary

Book one in the classic conclusion to Frank Herbert's worldwide best-selling Dune Chronicles

Hunters of Dune and the concluding volume, Sandworms of Dune, bring together the great story lines and beloved characters in Frank Herbert's classic Dune universe, ranging from the time of the Butlerian Jihad to the original Dune series and beyond. Based directly on Frank Herbert's final outline, which lay hidden in a safe-deposit box for a decade, these two volumes will finally answer the urgent questions Dune fans have been debating for two decades.

At the end of Chapterhouse: Dune - Frank Herbert's final novel - a ship carrying the ghola of Duncan Idaho, Sheeana (a young woman who can control sandworms), and a crew of various refugees escapes into the uncharted galaxy, fleeing from the monstrous Honored Matres, dark counterparts to the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood. The nearly invincible Honored Matres have swarmed into the known universe, driven from their home by a terrifying, mysterious Enemy.

As designed by the creative genius of Frank Herbert, the primary story of Hunters and Sandworms is the exotic odyssey of Duncan's no-ship as it is forced to elude the diabolical traps set by the ferocious, unknown Enemy. To strengthen their forces, the fugitives have used genetic technology from Scytale, the last Tleilaxu Master, to revive key figures from Dune's past - including Paul Muad'Dib and his beloved Chani, Lady Jessica, Stilgar, Thufir Hawat, and even Dr. Wellington Yueh. Each of these characters will use their special talents to meet the challenges thrown at them.

Failure is unthinkable - not only is their survival at stake, but they hold the fate of the entire human race in their hands.

Excellent continuation

The answers we've been looking forward to. If you are a Dune fan and always wondered what happened, then this book will start tying all the strings in vast Dune universe together. I can't wait to listen to the final book.

Mixed feelings...

Scott does an excellent performance, but the story feels bloated by continual recaps. It is almost like the authors are concerned that the readers/listeners couldn't follow the story without these repetitions. Because of this, it reads--at least at times--more like a children's book with adult content. This book is in need of a team of editors to cut out the unnecessary weight impeding the tale and its telling. It is annoying to say the least. This said, I am glad the authors attempted this venture because the tales of dune are epic and were unfortunately left incomplete. The forward and afterword were helpful in coming to terms with some of the writing in comparison with Frank Herbert's books and undoubtedly the reason I don't mark the story as a 3*

Loved it!

Good writing team, great story. Dune series has come a long way from just the Baron/Paul tiff.

Maybe I’m a Completion

I honestly didn’t hate it. I know people are not fans but I approached it with no expectations and enjoyed the story. The narrator doesn’t do any voices, he just reads the book.

Doesn't seem like a Frank Herbert Dune. Series Entry

The ending makes this unlikely to be by Frank Herbert's drsisign...it seems based out of the post Frank novel mythos..maybe Sandworms will be from Frank Herbert's loutlinr...I hope!

The narration sucks

I don’t know why that narrator chose to you use that tone, but it’s horrible.
Sounds loud and preachy. Hard on the ears. No stars.
It's like he's talking at you, not reading to you.
Wait! I’m required to give at least 1 star for performance? ~ Stupid...

Thank you.

I am very grateful to Brian and Kevin for working so hard to create such an epic conclusion to the greatest sci-fi series ever written. Not only did they find a way to honor Frank Herbert, but they found a way to satisfy millions of fans with a fitting resolution to all the conflict, as well as an atomizing answer to the questions, he created. Thank you so much too the authors of this book and to the narrator too. Looking forward to listen to all the other books from the Dune universe.

half the book is recap from the same book

i love all things dune but its hard to listen to this one since it seems like a large part of the boom is just recapping things from previous chapters.
