Publisher's summary

In the sixth novel in the New York Times bestselling Iron Druid Chronicles, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan finds himself the target of two goddesses of the hunt and a trickster god determined to unleash the apocalypse.

“[Kevin] Hearne is a terrific storyteller with a great snarky wit. . . . Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden.”—SFFWorld

For someone who’s been alive for two thousand years, Atticus O’Sullivan is a pretty fast runner. Good thing, because he’s being chased by not one but two goddesses of the hunt—Artemis and Diana—for messing with one of their own. Dodging their slings and arrows, Atticus, Granuaile, and his wolfhound, Oberon, are making a mad dash across modern-day Europe to seek help from a friend of the Tuatha Dé Danann. His usual magical option of shifting planes is blocked, so instead of playing hide-and-seek, the game plan is . . . run like hell.

Crashing the pantheon marathon is the Norse god Loki. Killing Atticus is the only loose end he needs to tie up before unleashing Ragnarok—AKA the Apocalypse. Atticus and Granuaile have to outfox the Olympians and contain the god of mischief if they want to go on living—and still have a world to live in.

Critic reviews

“Celtic mythology and an ancient Druid with modern attitude mix it up in the Arizona desert in this witty new fantasy series.” (Kelly Meding, author of Chimera)

“A page-turning and often laugh-out-loud funny caper through a mix of the modern and the mythic.” (Ari Marmell, author of The Warlord’s Legacy)

Enjoyable

I enjoy the characters, the relationships, the concepts, the mythology, and the humor in these books. He's always in peril and makes some poor choices, but it's more balanced than in some of this genre. The series is meant to read in order and they wouldn't stand alone well. The narrator does a nice job with inflection, emotion, and voicing the characters.

slowest of the series.

Some actions in the story turned me off and it was a struggle to get through. it's a great continuation of the series, but i wasn't ad invested in the story when Atticus wasn't on screen. Some exposition seemed to drag where the pace should have been quick—it really sucked the excitement out of the scene.

I'll continue reading. This one should have gone through a more objective editor's hands.

Hunted

This book is fast paced and full of action. Atticus, Granuaile and Oberon literally run acroos Europe in order to survive their latest antics. The plot is darker and sadder than previous books. There is a lot of growth and development with the characters. I look forward to the next book.

I Love This Series

The author creates likable characters and an exciting story but the performance by Mr. Daniels is what makes it great. For a 2000 year old man, the Iron Druid is very connected to pop culture.

Listen to series three times

Luke Daniels is the best narrator I’ve run a crossed. I’ve been listening to books on audible for more than 10 years. He brings these people to life with his character voices. I feel totally enveloped in the story and drawn to his voice. And I love fantasy that tinkers on the edge of being reality, and this book nails it.
Good read all around!

Escaping the hunters

if you are a fan of Kevin Hearn's created worlds, you will be well satisfied with this twisting of plot. Additionally the narrator and his use of accent makes the story that much more exotic.
