Publisher's summary

The first novel in the Iron Druid Chronicles - introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power - plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish - to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

Don’t miss any of Kevin Hearne’s phenomenal Iron Druid Chronicles novels:

Very enjoyable!

What made the experience of listening to Hounded the most enjoyable?

Great story fitting a 2000 year old druid into modern times. Listening to the stories of how things have changed.

Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels – was your favorite?

Loved the dog Oberon. He sounded just like you would expect - if dogs could talk.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I can't listen to these books at work with headphones anymore because I laugh out loud too often.

For Fans of Harry Dresden - this is a sure winner!

I really enjoy the action packed and witty nature of the Harry Dresden novels. I found the style of this book very similar. For those of you who who wander how your pragmatic dog might react when faced with Witches, Gods, Vampires and Ghouls - Oberon (the Druid's dog) gives a grreat impression. Despite my comparison to Dresden, the Iron Druid definitely stands out as an unique series. I would recommend probably reading the entire Dresden series and then coming to this, as you might confuse some of the back story. I look forward to reading some more adventures of Iron Druid.

Great beginning to a fun series

If you could sum up Hounded in three words, what would they be?

Present Age with a long lived lone druid dealing without only the world not believing him or magic but demons, gods, and other supernatural beings - that mortals don't know exist. Then to top it off his being "hounded" by a god from his past.

What did you like best about this story?

Characters: I fell in love with the Irish wolf hound in which communicates with "mind speak" I'm not sure if it is the authors writing (I believe it is) or the narrator's presentation of the hound's comment but I will tell what my co-workers can attest to my sudden and random burst of laughter from listening. All the other characters are well defined and established in the way fitting for this genre of writting,

Any additional comments?

Overall: I loved this book and in fact once I was done listening to this one I ordered the next two so I wouldn't have to wait for them

A change of pace for me. Loved the quirkiness of this book. Great mixture of fantasy and today. Going to get the next in the series now.

Fun read with very likeable characters!

Hounded is a witty fast-paced adventure filled with a mixed bag of mythological characters. The main character Atticus is a down to earth (pun intended!) ancient druid. He's definitely the kind of guy you'd like to share a pint with in a pub, while you laugh yourself silly to the tales he tells you! The humour ranges from ancient celt 'shite Kine' to modern avuncular. You will enjoy this audiobook :)

Light entertainment, very well read

Would you listen to Hounded again? Why?

I thoroughly enjoyed both the story, which was original and humourous, and the narration. The words and delivery of the thoughts of Oberon (the Irish wolfhound) had me chuckling in the middle of a crowded train! A definite keeper, and looking forward to the rest of the series.
