Publisher's summary

The first novel in the Iron Druid Chronicles - introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power - plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish - to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

Don’t miss any of Kevin Hearne’s phenomenal Iron Druid Chronicles novels:

"Hearne, a self-professed comic-book nerd, has turned his love of awesome dudes whacking mightily at evil villains into a superb urban fantasy debut.” (Publishers Weekly)

“A page-turning and often laugh-out-loud funny caper through a mix of the modern and the mythic.” (Ari Marmell, author of The Warlord’s Legacy)

“Kevin Hearne breathes new life into old myths, creating a world both eerily familiar and startlingly original.” (Nicole Peeler, author of Tempest Rising)

How did I miss these for so long???

Where does Hounded rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I listen to a LOT of books in the paranormal genres, and I had heard of this series but honestly shy away from books related to wizards and such. From the name, I thought this series would fall in that category. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! And happily so! I absolutely love this series and how it encompasses so much in each character. And the humor in each book keeps me literally giggling...

What other book might you compare Hounded to and why?

I can't think of any other series quite like this one. I love anything Irish/celtic and this of course deals with this, and all other Gods from all the other pantheons, but because on the main character all the myths and legends get brought into a modern light and in such funny witty ways by Atticus.

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I can't say enough about Luke Daniels. I normally prefer female narrators because they can preform a much wider range of voices believably, but Daniels is amazing. He has a huge range of voices and accents for all of the different characters from around the world AND even makes his female voices very believable. He has become my favorite narrator!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Most definitely! My only saving grace is that there were already 7 books in the series when I started listening so I was able to listen to them all back to back. Now I have to wait just like everyone else :(

Any additional comments?

Oberon, Oberon, Oberon!!!! If you love dogs this series is for you. He's the best character and that's a tough spot to claim with so many great ones in these books. He will always make you laugh!!!

Action Packed and funny to boot

Any additional comments?

Had this book not been on the daily deal, I never would have picked it up. I normally stick to Romance, paranormal romance mostly. Mainly because they are action packed and the storylines pull me in and keep me interested.

I've listened to other books before but usually don't stick with them. I always go back to the paranormal romance. I have to say I am so glad I picked this book up. I've already purchased the next two and will more than likely pick up the remaining books in the series.

This story is action packed and hilarious all at the same time. You have Fae, Druids, Werewolves, Vampires, and an irish wolfhound with quite a sense of humor. I listened to the story straight through and couldn't wait to pick up the second book.

Love the story. Very well written. Captured my interest and kept it all the way through.

Mythology + Scooby-Doo

Where does Hounded rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Pretty high. It had me giggling aloud at work.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hounded?

Oberon talking about Toto, and how he didn't deserve what happened to him because he was too small.

Also, don't trust witches.

Which scene was your favorite?

Oberon asking what Ghengis Khan ate for breakfast.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

Great start to a series. The storyline is fastpaced and amusing. The narration is well done, different and distinguishable voices for different people.

My new favorite series

What made the experience of listening to Hounded the most enjoyable?

Great concept for a world, grabs you from the beginning.

What did you like best about this story?

Character development.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't, but like his range and will seek his work out. Hope this series longs on for many more books. His readings of the conversations with Oberon are great.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have and found myself sitting in the driveway debating whether to go on or say it for the next days commute.

Any additional comments?

Wish they were longer, but love them all the same. Keep them coming, please.

Very good listen

I liked the story. Luke does a great job with several different characters. Main character is great, and I like the comic relief of the talking dog.
