Publisher's summary

The first novel in the Iron Druid Chronicles - introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power - plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish - to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

Don’t miss any of Kevin Hearne’s phenomenal Iron Druid Chronicles novels:

Critic reviews

"Hearne, a self-professed comic-book nerd, has turned his love of awesome dudes whacking mightily at evil villains into a superb urban fantasy debut.” (Publishers Weekly)

“A page-turning and often laugh-out-loud funny caper through a mix of the modern and the mythic.” (Ari Marmell, author of The Warlord’s Legacy)

“Kevin Hearne breathes new life into old myths, creating a world both eerily familiar and startlingly original.” (Nicole Peeler, author of Tempest Rising)

Entertaining!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book. It is clever and imaginative, and funny.

What did you like best about this story?

While in a potential life and death situation, the main character seems to be able to find humor no matter what is going on. More than once I laughed out loud at the clever observations or word play.

Fantastic Story! Amazing Narrator!!!

Knocked it out of the park. Great book. Great story. Great characters. Can't wait for the next in the series. And truly, the narrator is exceptional. You know exactly which of the many characters is speaking instantly from the voice the narrator uses for each one. How he keeps them each so precise in their own way I do not know. I am impressed! Wonderful. I have selected other books Narrated by Luke Daniels, simply to listen to him more.

yup 5 stars...

After reading some of the reviews I did not consider buying "Hounded". I completely skipped over this book and bought another author's book. Then I am ashamed to say it was on sale so I thought "why not?".
HOLY CRAP!!!!!
This book is freaking awesome, I even went on Facebook and liked the author and told him so.
NARRATION COMPLAINTS: Luke Daniels has a dry voice. If I had not heard him narrate a previous book I would completely understand how people are put off by his voice. TRUST ME when I say just push past it. It is like dry humor. It will grow on you and you will be rewarded with a story that keeps you hooked by moving modern day with all folklore characters. Vampires, werewolves, gods, goddess, and last but not least by any means...his dog (Odeon)!
This book had me cracking up that the people around me gave me the "Are you crazy?" look several times and not to say I woke my son up laughing at 1 o'clock in the morning.
This is the second time I have ever wrote this long of a review on a book. That should tell you something right there.
On to the next book!

I highly recommend this to all of my geek friends!

This series has been one of the most fun and enjoyable audio book experiences I have ever had. The narrator does a wonderful job, and after hearing the voices he gives to each character, I'm afraid I'll never want to read the actual books... LOL. Since discovering this series, I have introduced my brothers, best friend, and several other friends... All of them have loved it as much as I have. We cannot wait for more!

A Nice Urban Fantasy

A very interesting, story with some interesting, if not unbelievable characters. There are issues with the whole 2000 year old Druid acting like a horny 19 year old. The author tries to explain this away by saying the character has to blend in to a college town but he doesn’t display any sort of wisdom that should come from millennia of experience.

The “every god exists at once” plot device is interesting and serves the plot well.

A good pickup for fans of an urban fantasy.

Great Listen!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oberon. He reminds me of my dogs. They like apple chicken sausages too.

Any additional comments?

It makes it difficult to drive when laughing as hard as I was. Great listen.
