Publisher's summary

The first novel in the Iron Druid Chronicles - introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power - plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish - to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

Don’t miss any of Kevin Hearne’s phenomenal Iron Druid Chronicles novels:
Hounded | Hexed | Hammered | Tricked | Trapped | Hunted | Shattered | Staked

"Hearne, a self-professed comic-book nerd, has turned his love of awesome dudes whacking mightily at evil villains into a superb urban fantasy debut.” (Publishers Weekly)

“A page-turning and often laugh-out-loud funny caper through a mix of the modern and the mythic.” (Ari Marmell, author of The Warlord’s Legacy)

“Kevin Hearne breathes new life into old myths, creating a world both eerily familiar and startlingly original.” (Nicole Peeler, author of Tempest Rising)

A book you can read over again

There aren't too many books I read several times but this is one of them. It has a perfect mix of fantasy and humor. It's a book that can be read independently if you'd like but has just enough to catch your attention. It's just the start of a great series and it gets much better from here so I highly recommend you keep reading.

Great Intro to a great series!

What did you love best about Hounded?

It's a good blend of action and comedy... The interactions with Oberon were great and the action/magic portions were well detailed and not boring at all.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Although Atticus is the main character the interactions between he and Oberon make the book go by smoothly.

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accents that he uses with the different characters is probably something that I would have had trouble duplicating in my head.

Genuine Good Time --- Have a Listen, will ya?

Would you listen to Hounded again? Why?

Absolutely! However... I just finished Hexed & am not about to go right into book 3 of the series, Hammered. I plan on listening to as many books as are currently out in the series.
They are simply THAT entertaining.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters & how the narrator breathed life into them. It's a nice bit of fantasy that meshes the modern world & myths of old so well that it feels as though you really could walk into a shop and converse with a 2100-year-old 'dude' (though he looks 21) who likes to quote the bard & who likes to pull pranks on unsuspecting people with the help of his talking dog.

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

His performance/narration is AMAZING. The different voices & intonations & inflections perfectly convey the mood, wit, personality of all the various characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.... It's also one in which I rewound if someone came in the room and interrupted my listening experience. I didn't want to miss a second of it.

Any additional comments?

Great Book(s) and well worth purchasing the audio version(s) as Luke Daniels really adds to the enjoyment of Kevin Hearne's story & enriches his well-written characters.

Laugh out loud at times, despite the violence

Would you listen to Hounded again? Why?

Yes, I really enjoyed listening to the narrator. His accents and ability to pronounce very difficult words was impressive, plus his timing was great.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character (Atticus) has a dog named Oberon and I laughed out loud hearing the two of them interact.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the interactions that Atticus had with his elderly Irish neighbor, as well as with his dog.

Entertaining

A good story. A little swearing and a bit of adult sexual content. He briefly mentions Jesus as a god who can't do as much as the other gods because his followers usually think of him on the cross.
