Audie Award Finalist, Paranormal, 2016
Eleven years ago atheist Malcolm Romero met a god. Now he's a demon-hunting voodoo priest armed with a holy machete named Hounacier. After the murder of his mentor, he returns to New Orleans to catch the killer. But more is at stake when Malcolm finds himself betrayed and his holy blade stolen. Now Malcolm's only hope to save his soul and to recover Hounacier is the Valducan knight sent to kill him, Matt Hollis, the wielder of the holy revolver Dämoren.

Hounacier, the second book in the Valducan series and the sequel to Seth Skorkowsky's Damoren, deals with the weilder of the demon slaying machete Hounacier, Malcolm Romero. After the murder of his mentor, the previous wielder of Hounacier, Malcolm returns to New Orleans to try and find the killer. He is instead drawn into his old life, a life filled with Loa, with voodooo priests and priestesses, where magic is real, and where a plot to have revenge against the wielders of Hounacier has Malcolms life and very soul, as well as Hounacier, in jeopardy. With a fast paced plot, exotic locations, really engaging characters and a villain that has a sympathetic reason for being that way, Mr. Skorkowsky has really taken this series to new levels, especially after the excellent work in Damoren. Any fan of Urban Fantasy should get a copy. This is as good as anything written by Jim Butcher, Simon R. Green or Tim Marquitz, who are some of my favorite urban fantasy authors. As far as narration, R.C. Bray does his usual spectacular job, breathing life into an already rich book. I anxiously await the third book.
Oh Audible. You fickle temptress.
Absolutely. I recommended Damoren (Valducan, Book 1) to several friends of mine and 2 out of 3 of them ended up preordering Hounacier as I did. The remaining friend did not, however, only becuase he can't listen to R. C. Bray narration again until he gets his diabetes under control again (it's an audible chocolate thing).
Malcolm is an absolute BOSS because he was a one man recking crew with few allies to support him
Spectacular. I have no doubt R. C. Bray's narration of Hounacier will score yet another Audie nomination for Skorkowsky's Valducan series.
Keep em' coming Skorkowsky!
I thought it would be a continuation of the last book but it was a good deviation from it. This series is well written and pretty original in its lay out of an already over saturated niche.
book was a good continuation as well.. it got away from the first book then brought Dameron back to the story will get the next book....awsome series
Bold claim, right? Seriously. Most Contemporary Supernatural is all about angsty teenagers and repressed sexual urges. Exactly NONE of that here. Very well written and read by a master voice actor.
Wow. Just when you think it can't get worse for our hero it does!!!
But that is why this story is excellent. It all hangs together really well and it is a thrilling and imaginative ride!
BALLSOUT F@#$ing AWESOME!!!!!
I'M NOT A SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Bray recorded the previous book Damoren and just like in Damoren he does an awesome job.
Having read the Kindle book first I can say that though the verity of accents, tones and characters voices he is able to give the book a life that is other wise missing
AGAIN I'M NOT A SPOILER!!!!!!
What the F!@# is up with publishers/writers spoiling the either the first half or even the whole book in the summary!!!!!!! Am I the only one who is tired of reading summary and spent most of the book waiting for the summary to happen!!!!! Espacally when it is an other great twist!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!
Ok... ok...rant over
If you loved Damoen you will love Hounacier but keep in mind that Hounacier is much more of a hard-boiled-noir-mystery then action packed trill ride that Damoen was.
Loved every moment. I love how intimate you become with the holy weapon and her mate! The author should be proud of his work... can't wait to read Ibenus!
This book as the second in the series had a lot to live up too after Damoren. It was not more of the same. It was its own path to travel with the return of some familiar characters. I was very happy with the feel and and the roller coaster ride the author provides. The performance was great as always. I highly recommend this audio book!
