what a waste!

I agree with an earlier review about the sloppy editing and plot inconsistencies - THE FIRST 35 MINUTES OF THIS BOOK ARE A SUMMARY OF THE FIRST TWO BOOKS!!! if it keeps up into the rest of this stretched out series, book 8 will be half summary half new book!

LOVED IT!

This author is great! Don't get discouraged during the first part of this book. Anderson throws so many characters and side stories at you in the beginning, you're worried that you'll have to take notes just to keep up with everything. Just relax and listen. Everything will gel within the 3rd hour of listening.

Deliciously Epic

Don't expect any closure in this book, as things become brutal to our heroes, and threats accumulate on all sides. I'm excited to continue the series and see what happens next.

Wanted to like it

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This book is just spinning wheels, getting nowhere.

What could Kevin J. Anderson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I am a fan of these kind of space operas. I am more than willing to put the time in. Having said that, the story just moves around. The twists, such as they are, are not clever or surprising. They rarely even fit within the "science" as it exists in this universe that Hamilton created. It's like the last seasons of a long running TV sitcom, where the characters just become more exaggerated versions of themselves.

What aspect of George Guidall’s performance would you have changed?

Guidall is good. I wouldn't change anything. In fact, one of the reasons I'm stopping here is because there is so much negativity about the next narrator. Considering the money audible gets for these audiobooks, you would think they would have the producer make an effort at continuity of style

Did Horizon Storms inspire you to do anything?

No

Any additional comments?

I realize that these books are a long term effort by the author. I also realize that in this genre, it's all about volume. But this author has talent. He needs an editor who doesmore than just fix the spelling.

Fun-Fun-Fun; Saga of Seven Suns is Fun!

Anyone who has loved Robert Heinlein, Ben Bova, Spyder Robinson, Andre Norton, Timothy Zahn, Bill Smith, Brian Daley, A.E. Van Vogt and too many others to remember to mention will love Kevin J. Anderson's Saga of the Seven Sun Series. His character development and plot twists keep the books unpredictable, the universe he has created is interesting, and the stories come to life as you read or listen.

I will rate every book available on this web site in this series as 5 stars for the same reason, so will not restate this or the written evaluation I added for A Forest of Stars, part of this series.

I highly encourage Audible to add Books 4, 5, and 6 as soon as possible so that its listeners can follow the schemes, characters, and enemy introduced in Book one to an ending of sorts.

Kevin J. Anderson's Book 7, Metal Swarm, not listed as "Book 7," continues the story of these same races, planets, empires, etc., and will be released on audio in December 2007. I hope that audible will add this one to its libray ASAP.

An Excellent Series worth a listen

I'm a BIG science fiction fan, and I can truthfully say that this is one of the best books that I've come across. Kevin Anderson has an interesting writing style with VERY long books, but short chapters. (I haven't read any other of Kevin Anderson's books, so I don't know if all of his books are this long or if it is specific to this series.) The short chapters keep the action going and keep things interesting.

Agonizingly Good

As the antagonists start to advance their plans, you are so invested in the story you start to get scared and frustrated that so much is turning against the hero's.

Exciting but too drawn-out

Having read all 3 of the books in this series (to date), I feel like I am hooked, but not altogether in a good way. I want to listen to more, but more because I really want to find out what happens in the end than because I enjoy listening to them. I feel a little bit like the author is prolonging the story artificially, in order to make sure we buy the next book. Also the short-episode format leaves one wanting larger chunks of the story at a time. It's fun, but I'm not sure I'll listen to the next one.

Most exciting entry so far...

This book was full of pretty fun "whoa" moments. The world was expanded in an exciting way. Excited about the next!
